Gravity Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Reviews
Starting Jiu Jitsu and joining Gravity BJJ has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. All of the classes are taught by a Jiu Jitsu black belt and the quality of instruction is excellent. Professor Logan is great at breaking down the individual techniques we are learning that day. The techniques are all based around a position we are focusing on that week so we get a chance to really break the position down. Along with the instruction that Professor Logan provides, there is a great team environment at Gravity. While Jiu Jitsu is an individual sport, there is a great sense of teamwork at the gym. Everyone is trying to improve and help others improve because as the saying goes 'iron sharpens iron'. Often I've found myself tapping out or stuck in a bad position and then having my partner showing me where I went wrong. As a beginner, this has been invaluable to me. Jiu Jitsu along with the other programs like kickboxing and circuit training are great exercise and are a good mix of being challenging and fun. I feel like the challenging parts have made me stronger both physically and mentally while the fun aspect keeps me motivated to continue unlike lifting weights at the gym which I find boring. Since I started at Gravity about 7 months I've lost about 30lbs and my strength, endurance, coordination and balance have greatly improved so the results speak for themselves. Overall, Gravity provides quality training and fitness programs for all levels and at a fair price. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner!
I've trained at a few different gyms/academies over the years, as my skill levels and goals have evolved. I took a break from jiu jitsu for a few years and when I decided to go back, I had no doubts as to where I'd go - Gravity Jiu Jitsu. Even though I have many local and closer options for training I make the 1.5 hr round trip drive to Surrey 2-3 times per week to train at Gravity. They offer drama-free black belt instruction. You can leave your machismo at the door. Professor Logan's instruction is top notch – his technique is excellent and that's what classes focus on, mastering technique. The atmosphere is friendly and I have acquired, not only numerous training partners but a close group of friends. Anyone thinking of taking jiu jitsu training should consider Gravity.
My son and myself started at Gravity Bjj 3 years ago and have been training there ever since. I have trained at other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools and Professor Logan's instruction is the best I've had. His instruction is structured, themed and very detailed giving the student a complete understanding of the art of jiu jitsu. Professor Logan is very passionate about jiu jitsu and sharing his knowledge. His background has also helped to prepare me for my first amateur mma fight. He was always willing to come in early or stay late to work on things to prepare me for the fight. He has also brought in some great bjj practitioners for seminars such as Caio Terra and Mike Fowler which greatly improved not only mine but everybody's jiu jitsu. The atmosphere at the Gravity is very positive which stems from Professor Logan and his wife Sofie. Everyone treats each other as they would their own family. If you are looking to learn brazilian jiu jitsu in a fun, family friendly environment this is the place you are looking for. There is a great mix of people from recreational jiu jitsu to competitors and everyone is treated equally.
My experience with Gravity BJJ has been very positive. Both myself and my son have trained there over the last year. The environment is very positive. Logan and Sophie are both great at keeping you positive. Logan is very good at breaking down a technique and teaching it to others. He is also excellent at making the training fun and positive for the kids. The new gym is great and has lots of mat space. Also everyone who trains there is positive and friendly.
If you are looking for an outstanding, friendly, ego free place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this is the place. Logan is an awesome instructor that is great at giving you the tools and support you need to develop your game. The people that train there are friendly and helpful to everyone, there is a great team atmosphere. Everyone is always willing to help you get better because it makes the whole team better. And the new gym facilities are a perfect fit for the instruction that goes on there. Lots of mat space, great fitness equipment and a nice open layout.
