Fitness 19

I really like the size of the gym and how clean it is. I've noticed a huge improvement in how well kept everything is after the remodel. It's important to have friendly people because it lifts your attitude. I love Fitness 19 and was glad it came back after being an LA Fitness for a year. Fitness 19 is perfect for me! I'm 70 and feel very comfortable there. I live in Minnesota but have family in Chicago and go here when I'm in town.
This is the worse place to have a membership at. I canceled my membership in person back in July of 2013. I paid for July and August at that time. I told them I was moving out of state for the military. Jaimie (Red Head) told me that my membership would end. At the end of September I received a bill. I called and spoke with Jaimie (Same person that canceled my membership in the first place) at that time and she remembered us talking and that should would take care of it. I thought my membership was canceled. WRONG!! I received a call from the company Fitness 19 collectors. I told them what was done and They have no Fitness 19's in Wisconsin near me. She told me she did not know why I was still active. She even had my Wisconsin mailing address on file. She then told me the only person that can end my membership is the South Elgin Location. I thought that was weird. I have been trying to get a hold of the manager to for two months. I have not received any call backs when I leave messages for him to call me. So one more month and It will be a year that my membership should have ended. STAY AWAY from this place. Still working on canceling! Good luck if you choose this place.
I workout at this club when I visit the Chicagoland area. Normally workout at a club in MN. Staff is always friendly and club is clean.
I like this place, but they seem to cater to certain people. They keep the fans too low in the a.m. because of 2 members that want to "sweat." Am still trying to deal with this issue. It's summer time and now when you walk in at 5:15 a.m. it feels very humid and stinks. I may move my membership if they can't keep it cooler.
When I got pregnant, I wanted to hold up my membership, but they told me to pay $5 a month to keep the membership or I have to pay another initiation fee when I come back. I decided to pay the fee every month to keep the membership and one day I stopped there and said I want to hold my membership from this month. A man who seemed to be the manager said "OK, " but next month I was charged more than $5. I called them and they made me talk to the new manager. She said they just changed their management but she didn't get any note from the previous manager saying that I'm pregnant. I told her that I gave him the verification of pregnancy and he said "OK." But she said according to the policy I need to give them a doctor's note, not a verification of pregnancy. I refused to do that because I already got the approval from their staff even though he's not working anymore. Next day I called again and she told me she talked to the previous manager but he said he didn't say "OK" to me. He lied! I went to the club myself and asked to talk to the staff who was there when I was talking to the previous manager, but they wouldn't let me. Very dishonest and unprofessional!
