The Submission Academy(Brazilian Jiu Jitsu)
Reviews
I've been training at The Submission Academy under Steve Poulin for just over a year now. I came here from another local (and well-known) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school. I can honestly say it is absolutely the best decision I could have made. Steve is attentive, enthusiastic, and driven. He lives and breathes jiu jitsu, teaches every class, and pays attention to all of his students. The training environment is awesome. The facility is well maintained, cleaned meticulously, and inviting. Steve ensures that the mats are scrubbed with cleaning product before each and every class so you know you're always rolling on clean mats. The other people that train there are excellent. There are high-level competitors there, but no huge egos. Everybody gets along, supports each other, and pushes each other. There are lots of class options depending on your work schedule - morning classes, afternoon classes, evening classes. If you want to be serious about your jiu jitsu training, this is the place to go. If you want to build a fantastic cardio base and get into the best shape of your life, this is the place to go.
This is a great school. The kids class has gone from 5-6 kids to like 15-20 in the past 2-3 moths that it's been going. I love going to The submission academy because everyone is nice and it's a great place to go and learn something new and to have fun! :)my favorite part is the logo because of the octapus.
Energetic, family friendly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Intense and always positive Steve keeps it fast and light for the kids. His enthusiasm is encouraging to the point that I am looking forward to purchasing some private lessons.
I'm a proud member of The Submission Academy. The atmosphere is positive from the moment you step through the door. Steve, the instructor has the ability to break down complex techniques so that everyone can learn. He will push you at the level you need until you find that you want to push yourself even more and than he will kick it up a notch. As one of few females that train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in London, it is fantastic to have a skilled female training partner in Jane (Steve's wife and business partner) If you want a positive, friendly and skilled school to train, this is the place to come to!
I drive two hours every week or two to get there.. It's worth the drive!! Steve is a great instructor, and the club has a firendly and positive atmosphere!!
