Great facilities marred by a majority of it's patrons and some staff. Pretty typical for Milton, a town with a lot of tax revenue and grandiose plans but lacking the resources to manage them properly and patronized by large numbers of gen y and z. An ongoing a problem is the parking lot, speeding, driving through spaces rather than the driveways, parking in the fire/unloading lane and unloading in the driveways making unsafe and especially difficult for those with disabilities. I observed a very large female staff at the staff at the front desk respond to a person politely letting them know that the front entrance was being blocked and it appeared that they had been waiting for some time as they mentioned that there were two women out there chatting. The women responded with body language and a tone of voice that indicated she was bothered by the fact it was brought to her attention. She then proceeded to ask the person if they had the license plate numbers as if she was going to do a search on the plate and mail them a ticket! The person may have needed to get a disabled person unloaded and was letting them know the the front which is clearly signed no parking with the bylaw listed. You would think that they would make and effort to ask if assistance is needed and call the town's parking enforcement and or get a staff out there to see if they can get the vehicles moved. This unaddressed problem is persistent and regular. It is indicator of the town's attitude and ability to enforce it'w own bylaws which they do not appear to do without a complaint. This parking problem makes it hazardous to navigate especially when you add children jumping out and running between parked vehicles without looking especially when they are late and rushing. That is not the main hazard though, the main entrance drive as it has no signage to indicate right of way between incoming and crossing vehicles. Many of the incoming vehicles assume they have the right of way and do not slow or stop to yield despite their being a yield sign on the outgoing lane. Several near misses have happened. Peak times are the worst when you the people with last minute syndrome put everyone at risk by placing speed over safety. The inside is pretty much the same with people standing in groups blocking off access to stairs etc. children running, playing hockey in the foyer and hallways.Using the alternate entrances in the parking lot and building can help to avoid the me generation.
This is a very nice facility, lots of programming for summer and winter.
