Gold's Gym
Reviews
I have joined Gold's Koramangal Branch about a month back and my experience is really bad with the gym. I really think I have wasted my money and time by joining this Gym. Since the last one month, the BMI machine at this Branch is not working and hence the tests and measurement records are not maintained. When I enquired to get my BMI done, I was told to go to another branch (HSR) and get it done. Moreover, I had been struggling to get an exercise schedule done for me. The floor trainers are really pathetic and pay no attention. It has been two weeks since I had been trying to get an "intermediate" training schedule. But the floor trainer had been making excuses and delaying it.
Well managed. Great layout. Very spacious. Good quality equipment, which has been maintained well. Nice locker area. Steam bath facility as well. Highly recommend :)
April 2014 Highlights of 2014 1. Sometime back the door of the steam bath had broken and it took these guys 2 months to fix it. 2. This gym has totally 3 showers in the men's section, Sometime back the lock of one of the shower and the shower in another shower had broken. It took these guys close to a month to fix this. 3. Power cut is a normal thing at this GYM, I do not think these guys have a well planned back up power supply. The reason I am saying this is because recently I was running on the treadmill, the power went off and the treadmill stopped abruptly. I was running at 10 kmph so I was sort of thrown of from it. Right now I am sitting at home with a broken back. November 2013 Gold's GYM Koramangala(Bangalore) is one of the worst GYM's I have ever been to. The primary issue that I would like to bring to your notice is that the GYM is not open for too many days. 1. They are closed on second Saturday's of every month for maintenance. 2. Apart from this they are closed for pretty much every festival in Bangalore. 3. They were even closed for renovation for 6 to 7 days. Based on my calculation, the GYM is closed for more that 30 days in a year. This would mean that if a member joins for a year by paying a lump-sum amount in advance, will actually be able to go to the GYM for 11 months or lesser. You might think that this would be OK as people who workout need rest as well. The catch is that since the Gym would be closed abruptly or not on regular intervals a member has to plan his/her workout according to their(The GYM's) schedule which is actually a pain. To top this up there is no formal communication via email or SMS when they close the gym, all they do is stitch a small print out at some weird corner in the GYM which you are most likely to miss. Though I had requested them multiple times to send a formal communication they just smirk at me and say Ok we will get it done and no further action follows. Apart from the above points, 1. The cleanliness levels in this GYM is Pathetic, they keep sweeping the GYM allowing the dust to freely fly in the air while you are working out, so in case you are allergic to dust it could bring your biggest nightmares to life. 2. The toilet STINKS 3. Treadmills might stop abruptly while you are running, this might lead to creating back problems. 4. Treadmills are under maintenance most of the time(means you will not be able to use it). 5. The staff acts as if they own you(which is something you can look away from). 6. The free weights area is totally congested, though the space is big there are too many people(Not as bad as fitnessfirst Sonyworld signal though) 7. Weights would be lying all over the place that you would have to swim through the place to find what you want to find. 8. Even if you have a problem and decide to send a feedback to Golds GYM India, it would only be a waste of time as the mails always bounce, showing that they are not interested in feedback. GOLDS GYM - Koramangala has destroyed my GOLDS GYM experience so badly that I am not sure if I would be ready to join any GOLDS GYM across the world ever.
