Earth Treks Climbing Center

There's something for everyone here and there are always new routes going up. The bouldering area is big and has a great cave and loads of problems. There's a massive area dedicated to top rope and lead climbing and there's a roof, another overhung area in the back, some cracks, some stemming and just plenty to do in general. There's a training area upstairs with loaded campus boards and the gym downstairs is well-equipped. The only downside to such a great gym with such great staff is that, starting around 4 pm, the influx begins and they're slammed till around 8 pm. Avoid rush hour and this place is a dream come true.
I now have been a member at this gym for about 6 months and I have thoroughly enjoyed every day of it! The facility is state-of-the-art with a magnificent staff to accompany it. The staff is well-educated in various fields climbing, yoga, training and health. The clinics are also another benefactor. The bouldering area is great with many levels of problems, not to mention the campus board, hang boards and system boards are all great recourses for training. The weight room is clean and well equipped. As for the rope walls, they are unique with their sticky texture and range from slab to steep routes and everything in between. All of the holds are color coordinated in both the bouldering and ropes areas, which is awesome, especially if you have been accustomed to tape marked routes. If you live in the area or are just visiting, I strongly recommended dropping by and giving this place a try.
Kinda pricey and can get packed but one of the best gyms i have been to. friendly staff, change routes weekly, great community feel, defiantly worth giving it a try.
For the golden area, this gym is a great resource. The walls are unique in that they are finished with a sticky surface you can smear on. There are yoga classes at no charge to members, as well as a very nice workout area with treadmills and free weights. Additionally, and most importantly, the gym is brand new. On the flip side it is unfortunately not locally managed which causes unnecessary difficulties when closing a membership or opening one that is not standard such as a family civil union plan. There is nobody at the gym that can make judgement calls in such matters without asking permission from the east coast... but you will have to do this yourself as they probably won't offer to do it for you. The bouldering quality is generally good.. but the walls are very high and the pads are quite firm which could easily lead to strains or sprains. To add to the hazard, many setters finish problems with a "spicy" top out. Be careful and aware. I usually won't bother finishing boulder problems at my limit in this gym as I've seen the ambulance have to rescue other hapless climbers who have managed to dislocate body parts. The routes are generally good but lack the consistency you might find at other gyms. You may find one route to be spectacular (very well thought out) and another to be terrible (awkward reachy moves). The grading is very shifty from one setter to the next which leads me to believe there is no forthright grade vetting from the other setters. The gym is designed such that routes intersect in the overhangs which equals long waits on busy nights for harder routes. I'm not sure what the story is with the upper level but is doesn't get much use aside from occasional birthday parties. Parking is ample and location is convenient. Overall, if you are living permanently in Golden, or the surrounding areas and want to join a gym, this is realistically your only current option and it's pretty good. Understand that my three stars is relative to all Colorado gyms I've visited and that in some other states I've lived this would be a 5 star gym.
This place is awesome. Bigger then the other climbing gyms I've been to so its easy to find an open route you want to climb. Also huge bouldering area. It's $19 for the day but worth it if you spend a couple hours climbing. All the routes are the same color hand and foot holds which is nice and you rarely see. Definitely have to check it out.
