Retro Fitness
Reviews
This is the most user-friendly gym in Ft. Myers. As a newcomer to the area, I have tried numerous health clubs. That being said, my wife recommended I try Retro Fitness—I had a membership at Gold's—and I was totally suprised. Specifically, this club has numerous perks: (1) A staff that will do what it takes to please the member; (2) State-of-the-art equipment; (3) Extemly clean; (4) Televisons that appease the sports fan; (5) A plethora of equipment—you will never get bored; (6) Friendly members—you can be yourself, no matter your fitness level; (7) Modern lockerrooms equipped with showers; and (8) A health snack bar. If interested, just visit and ask for Tyler; you will be greeted with a friendly, caring attitude that will make you feel "right at home".
I have been a member here for about 7 months now. The equipment is always clean and in great working condition. The staff and clients are all friendly and courteous. I've never seen weights out of place or messy and there is enough variety of equipment for me to get a solid workout. They have a great cardio theater if you like having entertainment while you work!
I was only able to work out there for about two months due to moving but they were great. Definitely helpful when it came down to cancelling my membership.
I like this gym. Never a ton of people in there, come and go fairly easy. Great hours and the movie theatre is cool. The people I thought were nice and honest. However, I can't give less then 1 star sadly. Anyway, I went in June to start an additional membership, my first membership was just a 3 month. Recently though, apparently things changed and they had a no start fee sign up. I asked the employee who seemed to know what he was talking about if I could just do month to month. He told me that "wasn't really an option anymore". He insisted I go with the 1 year no fees to start membership. I again said I'd rather just do month to month because I don't know how long I'll be living near there. I then and asked what it costs to cancel. He said 2 months of membership. So it would come to $40 plus some made up maintenance fee. Around $60.00 sounded fair. Trusting the employee in his guidance and not feeling up to reading the fine print on something they try to call a computer, I said sure. I swear they use that POS so you just want to be done with it and don't read anything. I just moved 15 minutes further south, further away from Retro and I now live 100 feet away from my community gym which is free. So I went to cancel just now and what do you know? It was the same guy there that signed me up. I figured, this guy was so helpful last time, maybe he'lI help me out with the cancellation. I told him I wanted to cancel and he said well you have a year contract? I said I know, I want to pay the cancelation few you told me(lied about) about. He says, that's gonna come to $247.00. I said well that's not what you said a few weeks ago. You pushed this on me when I didn't want it. What can you do for me since you lied? It's $247.00. So you said "why don't you just pay it the rest of the year and we'll cancel the auto renewal?" I said I guess i have too. Pathetic.
I just joined only a month ago and I am loving this gym. It is always clean and nice. The people there are very kind and I love working out here. The movie theater is my favorite! This is the best gym in Fort Myers!!!
