The Omni Club- Westside

Interesting first experience to say the least. First of all. Signed up for a free 3 day guest pass. Staff was very pushy on getting my wife and I to sign up before we had even tried the facility out. And got the cold shoulder once we said we just would like to try it for a couple workouts to see if we would like to join. The lady we were talking to then said "OK well the price will go up $100 if you Dont join now" that was a turn off big time. But since we were there we decided to get a workout in anyway. The place is clean and has a good amount of machines and free weights. It was pretty busy even though it was a Sunday afternoon. There was a bunch of people standing around machines talking and socializing and not working out which made it difficult to keep a good pace going because there was a lot of people lingering on machines and weights I thought this was a serious place but my experience showed otherwise. Staff is not professional at all and very pushy in getting you to sign up. I wouldn't join there even if I lived next door and the prices were cut in half. they really need to reconsider sales pitch on new customer intake I Dont see how anyone has joined this place with the current sales pitch. Needless to say I will NOT be joining and I will not be utilizing the other 2 days of my free guest pass.
New Ownership is killing this gym. I became a member back in July. Which is before the switch happened. Before the switch happened things were going okay, there were some equipment issues that never seemed to get fixed. Since the new ownership from Bodyplex took over it has been downhill. Management doesn't work with customers to resolve issues. They just act as if we should be grateful for them to let us pay to be a member. Also since all the Bodyplex member have come over there is no chance to use equipment in a timely manner. If you are looking for a gym I suggest you look elsewhere.
The worst gym customer service I have ever experienced. With me being in the military I travel to tons of places constalntly and by far this place is one of the worst gyms I have came across. I will admit by the looks it is awesome and well maintained, but when it comes to dealing with the staff it was terrible. I am from Athens, born and raised, and I come home often to visit family. Being on top of fitness is a very big part of my job so I always make sure whenever I'm on personal leave I find time to workout. When I contacted this gym they were very rude over the phone and in person. They told me The OMNI Club is the only gym left in the city and good luck finding a place to workout. Would not give me a legit price over the phone and I had to come to the gym for a guest price. When i got there I had the intentions of paying their fee but the rudeness of the staff turned me away ASAP. Found another gym with well enough equipment and a better attitude from the staff. My suggestions is to look around and if you value who you give your well earned money to do not go to this gym.
The Omni sent me to a COLLECTION AGENCY and did not try to contact me before they did so. My gym membership expired in February 2013. I received a letter from a collection agency in North Carolina dated 9/17/2014 because the Omni Club gave them my account. It said I owed an enhancement fee of $29.00 for 2014 (it was tacked onto a personal training agreement dated 6/18/2012 - this is separate from my gym membership that expired in 2/2013). I paid in advance all of my contracts with the Omni and never did monthly billing. The Omni has my current phone number, email address (on the contract I signed) and I have changed addresses, but mail is still forwarded to my new address (obviously since I received a collection letter for $129.00). I have contacted the Omni Club to resolve this, but they cannot (will not) help me in Athens. The Manager (Curtis) won't return my calls nor will they give me the main contact information for the Corporate Office. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Be very careful of what you sign. Check all the dates in all the small print on the contract whether it's a membership agreement, personal training agreement, etc.
Gym itself is great. I do not know whether they are under new management, but Candace handled all of my billing issues with Omni, issues that had been ongoing for nearly 8 months. Go to her with any problems.
