Semper Fit Gym

I worked on MCBH and frequented this gym for almost 3 years. The regular staff working the front desk is really hit or miss. Sometimes you'll get the grumpy disgruntled spouse, or you'll get the upbeat Trainer-in-Training that works their because they love the gym environment (and it shows); like I said, it's hit or miss. The Trainers their are awesome! I attended group exercise, HITT classes, and HITT Trainer Courses (usually taught by the same staff) and they're all extremely friendly, professional, accommodating, and experts in their craft. What I disliked primarily was their regular gym, HITT gym, and open fields are scattered about the base, while at any larger base you might find a more centralized location for training needs such as Camp Pendleton's main gym. Also, being that it's a small base with a very concentrated population, it tends to be crowded most of the time and maintaining one's ability for patience while waiting for different equipment will be a must during the rush hours. However, if you prefer to avoid the rush, all you have to do is ask the front desk (hit or miss) about the least crowded times to go, and ask about the group classes and personal training programs they have to offer. To summarize: Pros- Very professional and SME quality trainers; great programs for group classes; kids fitness classes; personal training and evaluations; massage; helpful and friendly Cons- Small facility for the amount of interest the members of the base have in fitness; facilities for specialized training needs are spread throughout the base vice a central location for all; hit-or-miss attitude from the front desk.
