Diamond Dreams Sports Academy
Reviews
I was excited for my baseball loving son when a training academy opened in Iowa City, and even more thrilled when they moved to a more convenient location. We tried a little sluggers program, and I was told it would be appropriate for my 7 year old, and that there would be other kids his age, but there wasn't and it was way too young for him. He didn't get much out of it. We also tried a summer camp, and I was unhappy at the hours they spent watching movies that I really didn't want him to watch, and there weren't alternate activities offered during that time. Besides athletics, they had also advertised crafts and writing during the camp, but that never happened. There were other concerns I had about the camp, but when I emailed a manager about them, I never received a response. The other reviews indicate they are good at training athletes, but my experiences at Diamond Dreams have not been positive. Update - 8 months later - My daughter participated in a softball pitching class with Alison, which was great and really helpful, and my son wants to try a 3 day baseball camp. We are not going back to the daycamp, but we'll give this a try.
Diamond Dreams is great! Brian and Ryan worked with my son over the last two seasons and I can tell you - they are the reason why he hits as hard as he does. They are so positive and upbeat with the kids - it is awesome. Plus - his form is just fantastic. They were key in him being a great hitter and his 10U team winning the State Championship this year (2011).
