Jackson Sport & Fitness

Great facility, recently renovated. Under new ownership and management. Equipment is in good shape and group fitness schedule always has a class available. Recently added boot camp to group fitness schedule. Cycle class every day of the week. Two racquetball courts, the only gym in town with racquetball that I am aware of. Walking/running track is a great way to stay active in winter.
Good: 1) selection of free weights. 2) Pool. 3) open spaces and ceilings 4) little waiting time, if ever, for stations Bad: 1) Already established social circle between managers and guests..dont expect any service let alone more than an occasional smile and hello. 2) There is a nice training class-room but they occassionaly have unschedule (not communicated) events and you are locked out of your planned workout. 3) They use a fingerprint identification system...which is fine but your experience starts off awkward b/c they do not have a second screen that faces you..you stand there uncomfortably for 30-40 seconds while an employee graces you with some time away from homework or a friends conversation to tell you if you are a member or not. Funny enough, you can stand there while a friend of theres just walks by and says hello. Awful: 1) No rules! Nobody reracks weights. Employees friends do not wear shoes. Peoples kids (granted I have only seen 6-7 times) run around unsupervised. 2) They claim there are trainers but Ive never seen a training session and I would have no clue how to even hire one. 3) They have no system of providing feedback to management. No surveys, no focus groups, no 30 day evaluation for new members, etc. Thus, guests must post on the internet in hopes of gaining managements attention and making dirty laundry public. A telling sign of this is the below posts - the GM's responses are borderline mean spirited and ask people to get their facts straight. A true customer service oriented business would note the way things are supposed to be and then actually do something to see if there is merit to the claims. I hope my post is treated with respect and responded to.
