If you are a parent and are considering sending your child to the Day Camp here. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!!! Being a recent summer Day Camp Counsler, you're paying 155 dollars a week to have your kids drink hose water from a cooler, be in the heat virtually all day (thats lunch and snack time and yes even when its 100+ degrees outside), have very little to do except for activities we pull out of our ass, and ineffective managers. As a matter of fact, everything ran smoothly on days when our Day Camp managers weren't there, sadly. The facility doesn't even want to invest money where it should go, like having a simple trash can outside for trash instead of us having to use whimpy trash bags that break and tear with the high volume of trash. I'd definitely recommend sending your kid to the Lake Houston YMCA facility. I only had to go there for training but it seemed like they were a lot more organized and way more equipped than this facility. And also to parents reading this that may have sent your kids to the camp this summer and next summer, please show the counselors respect. We have to deal with a lot from the disrespectful and borderline bad kids to the managers treating us like garbage and "unofficially" firing counselors they didn't like for some reason. We could've all left to find different jobs but we stayed for the kids that deserved our work.
I have a niece that goes to this YMCA. I heard my niece sing a song about (2p Tuesday, get CRUNK Thursday, PAYDAY Friday ) I would like to know is this a song that all the YMCA's across the greater HOUSTON sing????? I hope not. My niece was picked up from the YMCA on Tuesday 8/ 12/ 2014. She said she felt nausea and wanted to vomit, muscle cramps, headach and dizziness. I would like to know if your employee know what HEAT EXHAUSTION is for small kids? How long do they keep kids out side? This is TEXAS it start off early in the morning sometime 70 degrees.
Not bad ... Pretty chill
