Texas Health & Racquet Club

These people should be ashamed of themselves. When I joined, we all agreed that I would be leaving Texas within six months to a year. They said no problem, that my contract was short-term. Well, they made it as difficult as possible to cancel and stop withdrawals. I had to send letters to two different addresses, certified mail. And DON'T sign up for personal trainers. They are not worth it and you auto-pay whether you use them or cancel. In fact, I paid even when they canceled. Then there's the fitness classes... you'd better be in top physical condition to begin with. There was nothing for my age and level. It was an all-around negative experience. I much prefer the place I attend now. It's fun and doable with tons of variety!
I've been a member for almost 1.5 years and compared to other gyms I have belonged to, this one is superior in terms of customer service and personable gym staff. I started out with the group fitness classes and was extremely happy with how welcome the trainers made me feel and how helpful they were/are during class. More importantly, I appreciate how approachable the staff is with any questions I have. The equipment is always well maintained and if something needs repairing it is done quickly. I like the member appreciation days and the fun things they do throughout the year (body combat launches, theme days, community activities). I'm pleased with the childcare area and the attendants are all so nice; my kids always have a good time when they're there (plus they have an outside play structure for them to climb on). The only issue I have had is when they change the schedule seasonally and one of my regular classes gets moved to a different time slot but there are always substitutions so I can't complain. Overall, THRC is a great place to work out!
I work for the National Guard and joined this gym knowing I would be transferred to Houston in several months, I let the counselor know this and was told no problem there would be a $15 transfer fee, I notified them about 8 months later in October that my transfer came through and I would be leaving in November, I was told I have to pay two months dues, a 50 dollar fee and send a certified letter to some third party financial company, needless to say this was not what I expected and I refused to pay, its now one year later and they have been charging me every month and want some ridiculous payment of around $600 dollars or they will report me to the credit bureau.......Stay away from this scam gym.
This Gym is overcrowded and expensive. They rope you into a year long contract and charge huge fees to cancel. A lot of the time the machines are left sweaty from the last person before. Staph waiting to happen. Deffinately better gyms out there.
Customer service and gym classes are great !! If you have something bad to say about this place then there is seriously something wrong with you! :)
