24 Hour Fitness
Reviews
24 crowded fitness. Whoever wishes to join, congratulations on choosing to make a healthy choice! Double up on that by not joining this craphole. I wish I could take you back 4 years to when this place didn't suck as much. As you walk in your greeted by a large gym! This would be okay, except for the fact that they decided that caps on people allowed in at once should be nonexistent. So enjoy massive crowds at almost any time. But don't worry, since it seems that all the people make up for it by having absolutely no common courtesy. Re racking weights? Crazy talk. Cleaning up after themselves? Hell no. Oh you want to use this bench? Sorry bro, I'm using it to watch TV. It's fine though, since the real jerks are crowded around the ONE power cage (the only place in a 6 bazillion square foot gym to do squats) in order to show off how much they can curl. In the squat rack. If that got you all sweaty, don't worry! There's more! You can walk through the filthy locker room, wading through the towels on the floor to get to the sauna, where someone has invariably decided that dumping some kind of scented oil is the best way to choke everyone else out so they can have it to themselves. Now that that's all over, you can head into the locker room, try to shower in one of the broken showers, and wonder how you'll get home that night since someone stole your stuff.
I'm going to have to disagree with these previous reviews. 24 hour fitness has been great to me for the last 5 years. Even while moving to the new facility, I wasn't charged a "moving fee", and depending on how long of a contract you sign, la fitness MAY be cheaper. I don't want to sign a contract, and I want to be free to use the facility whenever I want to. Neither of these things are appropriately offered from la fitness, whereas 24 hour fitness has accommodated all of my needs. Clean, friendly staff, great space
Pretty decent commercial gym, pretty similar to LA Fitness over by the mall. The extra room they got with the platform, tire, TRX, ropes and junk i thought was a good addition. It made the decision of what gym to join fairly easy. I give it 4 stars because its a nice clean place thats very decently equipped, but then it has the same lame traits of most commercial gyms where 3/4 of the space and funds are used for stupid cardio and weight machines. If you like this stuff, take it as a plus. On the other hand, if you like barbells, open space and unconventional training tools, take it as a big minus. Overall though with whats in the area, you cant really go too wrong with this place.
Clean, affordable, and a lot to offer
I have found this company to be very sly in their business practices and I cannot recommend this company to anyone. I experience 2 "scams" from this company: 1.) Cancellation Policy. Be very weary on this policy in the fact that throughout the company they are not clear on their policy. I cancelled my membership on the phone and I made it very explicit that I wanted to cancel it immediately and not to be charged in the next cycle. I asked for a confirmation cancellation number, and they said they could not provide one but they assured me that it was cancelled in the system. The following month I was charged and they had no record of cancellation and said there was nothing they could do. This time I wrote down the name and time of the person. 2.) Moving Clubs. This facility is moving to a new club and automatically charging every member a $10 initiation fee and an additional $5 / month. Existing members (some of whom have been there for 20 years) are being charged this fee just because they are building a new club! This was the last straw, I was fine with the old club, I don't want to be charged additional for this new club. My current membership fee here si 39.99/month, LA fitness which is a nicer facility is $9/month cheaper.
