My name is Jesse and my daughter and I go to Emerald City Tae Kwon Do in Covington WA. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this has been for me and my daughter. My daughter is 6 and she is learning to focus better and the Tae Kwon Do home rules have improved her enjoyment in the daily activities at home with her brother and sister. Master Ron is the same with ALL students, adults and children; his honor for the sport and for its participants is evident and he is a kind and compassionate person and a great teacher. The other teachers are GREAT with kids as well. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND Emerald City Tae Kwon Do. Please feel free to follow my email address on this link and ask me any other questions you may have. Thank you.

Our Daughter has been attending Emerald City Tae Kwon Do for nearly two years now. When she first started she was very difficult to teach. She was so shy and reserved that Ron could barely get her to go on the floor for instruction. He showed great patience with her and never got frustrated or raised his voice. He wanted to help her gain the confidence to get on the floor. He even suggested one of us attend class for a month free to see if we could get her to engage in the lessons. This worked very well. Now she has gained two belts and has much more confidence in herself. She also attends his summer camp. It was her choice to go there over her previous day camp because she felt more comfortable with Ron and liked his program. We have always found him to be very fair and patient with all his students. He does expect all students to focus and be respectful. If they are not he does not raise his voice or get angry. He asks them to do pushups or wall sits and explains to them calmly why they received the corrective action. We have asked our daughter what she thinks about Ron and she only has good words for him. She now looks forward to attending his class and is disappointed if she can not go. We have never seen him show anything but respect for all his students and their parents. If our child were to have gone to any other instructor it’s highly unlikely she would have been allowed to continue due to how difficult she was in the beginning. He truly cares about his students.

My name is Tony, and I am a senior (age) student. I have studied TKD here for approx 18 months. I chose this school because the instructor, Master Ron, teaches the Art of TKD rather than the sport. I am not interested in "advancing" as fast as possible, but rather in learning the art. Master Ron works hard at instilling the discipline and skills necessary to both excell and advance in the art. He is more interested in the abilities of the student, helping each person to learn traits and skills that will help them outside of the classroom as well as in it. Standards of conduct are taught and required. Honor for eachother and the instructor, patience, self control, and respect are the foundation of this school. I have studied at other schools, and was not satisfied with the level of competence needed to advance. Master Ron demands high standards of skills and discipline before advancing students. I have personally watched Master Ron give young students assignments to go home and have parents give chores as reinforcements of conduct and attitude standards. I think this type of teaching is needed in the public schools as well as all martial arts schools.

I am a mother of 3 small children and was a resident of Covington Wa for years. We moved to Auburn and even though there are Tae kwon Do schools closer we specifically go to Emerald City Tae Kwon Do because of Master Ron and the other great instructors. They teach discipline and respect and to honor one another. It is a relatively strict environment but at the same time it is fun and the students get tailored attention based on where they are with the sport. Some parents aren't comfortable with an environment of discipline but it does wonders with my kids. I feel so safe taking my kids there. Feel free to ask any specific questions. Rachel

I would like to start off by saying that he/she is intitled to his/her opinion and stating his/her point of view. I just hope to clear any misconceptions about statements made towards Emerald City TKD. My children have been attending Master Ron's school religiously for almost 4 years now and we have yet to find anything to complain about (well except being trained hard). The first review refers to him as arrogant and pompous? What we see is a man who is confident in who he is and what he teaches. He may have come across as rude to that person or could it have been overlooked as that he was standing up for himself and not to be taken advantage of his generosity or walked upon. My family and I have built a relationship with Master Ron on a professional level and more importantly a personal level. I can honestly say that he is one of the most generous people I know. Ex. (this is just one of many) last 4th of July he put on a spectacular fireworks show that he paid for out of his own pocket. With that awesome fireworks display he provided limitless bbq dishes and beverages. He opened his home/property for everyone to have a great time. There are many martial arts schools out there that would gladly take crap from parents just so they don't loose your business/money. Master Ron is not about money nor can his school be labled as a belt factory. My children and many other students have earned their belts as well as been demoted in belt ranking for disciplinary actions weather unacceptable actions were done in the dojang or at home. We and other parents have personally faced finacial hardship at one point or another and he has always been more then willing to work with us. Master Ron may be a little tough on his students and this is only because he sees thier potential. The first reviewer talks about respect. Im not sure where that person is from or where they may have learned about respect. I believe that respect is not owed to you or anyone for that matter nor can respect be bought. You walked into his martial arts school so I think its you that needs to show some respect. So if respect, honesty, and a fun place to learn tae kwon do the right way is what you seek then you will find it here. But if you expect someone to kiss your rear end to take your crap or wear a black belt and not know how to properly do a form? PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Contact the first reviewer im sure they can tell you where to go! SIR WE LOVE YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO AND STAND FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
