LA Fitness

This gym has a SERIOUS crime issue. Addicts hide in the parking lot waiting for you to walk away from your car and then break in, sometimes in broad daylight. Forget about leaving your stuff in the lockers, several times we've had locks picked/broken and everything stolen from within. It wouldn't be so bad if the staff here wasn't such a load of crap. Everyone has a "not our problem" attitude and management changes weekly. The front desk rats are good at folding towels and never know shit about anything.
The staff here is a joke. Nobody knows anything about all of the theft that's been occurring in the parking lot outside. Police patrol the lot occasionally but it doesn't help without cameras and accountability - which the gym has none of. They try to cover it up and make it seem like nothing bad is happening. The girls working the front desk are all too busy trying to fit their asses into yoga pants and the guys working the front desk are all too busy trying to talk to them. LA Fitness is great but this location is terrible.
Before you read my review, I want to make a point that the manager was very kind, and I'm very happy with the effort she put into resolving my problems for me. Since I moved out to the east side, I've been struggling with finding a good gym in the area. A lot of them seem small, over packed, under staffed and over priced. This gym really isn't a huge exception. The other option in the area is a 24 hour fitness a few blocks away, but it was tiny. As far as size, the gym is pretty big. I avoid it at all costs on weekdays after 5. If you are there at 7pm, you're gonna have a hard time finding a machine or a bench. I guess that's a good thing, they have a lot of business. The pool is always clean, which is something that I really pay attention to. The mens locker room is always filthy. At any given time there are piles of towels EVERYWHERE. There have been times that I've went in at night, and came back the next morning to see the same piles of towels sitting on the floor in the same place. The sinks in the bathroom never have soap in them either. It seems like there is a new person at the counter every time I go in. This caused a lot of problems for me when I first signed up, as there was some confusion with my account, and every time I went in to discus it, the person that had promised to help me with it was no longer their. I was being over charged for a long time. They did not refund any money or credit me, but they did change my rate which I was very happy about. The woman manager was incredibly patient with me, and from what I can tell she bent over backwards to solve this problem, which was was caused by someone that worked there before her. I'll probably stay with this gym for the next few years, or at least until I leave the area. It is by no means bad. I would love to see better weekend hours, a cleaner locker room, and a little consistency with the staff.
im only in town for a contract position so i signed up for a free two week pass. well i have to admit it, i like the place. brightly light, smells clean, and absolutely no sales staff trying to force me to buy, buy, buy. very smooth process, i just signed up for a two week pass via the internet. they send you a pass via the internet to your email and BAM. walk in scan and thats it. did i mention they actually let you work out hassle free? i didnt have to sign anything etc etc. also i got a compliement on my nikes. lol cant beat that. this is way better than 24 hour fitness where they hassle you to make a purchase, then gym stinks and is hot, and they only offer you a better rate if you mention walking over to la fitness! lol. oh btw, i got hassled for an additional 20 minutes even though i told them i am only in town for a few weeks.
You can't get access to the club if you are a normal membership. $5 per day lol if I want to pay that money I would not go the Stinky la fitness when there are better clubs. Beside that there is no return money if you want to cancel your membership. It really sucks.
