The staff are sleazy salespeople. They lie and try to push things on you. I pay $29.99/month without an initiation fee and bought it 8/20/14. Do not pay more. They will lie and tell they can't give you anymore discounts. The only reason why I deal with this gym is because they have a pool.
Horrible Customer Service! The Minimal Membership is 2 months NO EXCEPTIONS.
This is the first time I have ever written a google review on a company but felt I had to after the absurd customer service I received... A week or so ago, I bought a lock to secure my shower items in the women's locker room. There is a sign on the lockers stating, "LA Fitness is not responsible for lost or stolen items. It is advised to not leave items in lockers overnight." I interpreted this message as being advice and not being protocol... i.e. we are not responsible for stolen items if you CHOOSE to ignore our advice and leave your items here overnight. You can imagine my surprise when I came in to find that my lock had been cut, and my shower things stored at the front desk- with my lotion missing. Nowhere does it state that locks will be CUT if they are left overnight. So at that point, I was out a lotion and a lock. I voiced this frustration to the man at the front desk and he never apologized or showed any concern- he merely shrugged and said they cut everyone's locks as if I should seek solace in knowing that I wasn't the only one experiencing this frustration? I returned my items to my locker and about four days later, found that my brand new Moroccon Oil shampoo and conditioner (almost $50 a piece) were stolen. I went up to the front desk and again voiced my frustrations and the guy at the front desk smugly responded with, "Well we cut it 4 days ago... that's not our fault you haven't bought a new lock and that you left your things in an unsecured locker." I was dumbfounded at his lack of concern or empathy and gathered my things to leave. I offered a sarcastic, "Thanks a lot for your help" as I left and he laughed and said, "Nooooooo problem" before turning to the other front desk worker and shaking his head. In all, I am out four items totaling over $120... all I was looking for was a little sympathy/apology/offer to replace my lock. Long story short, this gym does not care about their customers and has their noses up in the air. Yes, they have good facilities.. but that can be found elsewhere without having to deal with poor customer service and bad attitudes.
Good: It's very affordable and conveniently located. The hours are good. I use barbells and dumbbells and I can usually snag the station I want. Bad: Occasionally I'll end up going at a time when it's 200% full and it's impossible to get the stations I want. The bathrooms have terrible ventilation and are incredibly dirty. The locker room also has minimal ventilation and gets all the humidity and urine smell from the showers and bathroom. It's way better than nothing and the good outweighs the bad.
Horrible gym. Go else where. I'm only stickin' it out there until I find a new membership. Check out David Barton or Iron Works, the extra dollar is WORTH ITTTT!
