Park's Black Belt Academy
Reviews
My son, now 10, began at Park's when he was 6 and they were at their 38th St location in Tacoma. We began there because it was close--very close, and he wasn't limited to the number of classes he could take--at one point doing 10+ hours a week and loving it. But slowly things began to change...first there were limitations placed on classes, then there were increases in cost. But that all paled in comparison to what we saw as the increasing lack of discipline and lack of respect for the parents on the part of the main instructor. We left about 2 years ago after finding a fantastic school in Lakewood where he's had a greater breadth and depth of instruction from instructors that we really like and respect. He also earned his WTF black belt last year and is on the road to his 2nd degree!
My two children come here to this academy and enjoy every moment. I admire watching my two babies learn discipline, respect, and how to speak and understand korean. Master Park is an awesome teacher and me and my family has the utmost respect for him. We love this place.
WARNING! This place is a SCAM. I signed up with the Park's Black Belt Academy because I wanted to see how this martial arts school is. I have never been to something like this. I was told I must pay $200 upfront for two months of classes plus a $50 cheep uniform fee. So I did, no big deal because I was really interested in bettering my self. I was told that I must put a credit card on file. After a while of arguing that I did not have a credit card they told me I can pay cash. So I did. I only went to one class and realized that this was not for me so I stopped going. Two months later I get a call saying that I need to keep paying for the class because of some paper I signed that was not explained to me. I figured that if I dont go I dont pay, right. Wrong! For the next 6 months I get two phone calls a day saying that I need to keep paying. No matter how much I try to argue the situation they keep saying that it does not matter. I need to keep paying. So I stopped answering my phone. Today I get a collection notice saying that I owe $1188.00 for a class that I only attended once. Is this fair? I dont think so. Now my credit is effected. AHHHHH! The worst thing is that I cant do anything about it. Don't get SCAMMED like me. This place sucks.
