I would not recommend Anytime Fitness, particularly the Mount Horeb location. When they were building out the site they ran a 2 year start up special so I went in to speak with the manager. I was told: 1. there would be a waiting area for family members to wait 2. personal trainers would be available to assist 3. live instructors would be available periodically to teach classes in addition to the video system they were installing. Reality: No kids under the age of 14 are allowed in the building at all, much less allowed to wait in the waiting area. I understand the insurance part but when I pointed out that I specifically asked about this and that had they been upfront about this part when I asked, I never would have joined and so would like to cancel my membership. Was then told it wasn't their fault and that I could pay a penalty to "sell my membership" but it had to be sold at the same rate. For $40 a month, no one was interested. Personal trainers are available - if you pay. I approached staff for advice - they obviously must not have been personal trainers but worked there so I figured they could give advice on which machines to use for specific muscles - I got a blank look and shown to one machine. The other members were more helpful. And the live instructor? Never saw one. All in all, I felt the whole experience was very misleading, left with a "bait and switch" type of perception about this club and honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone with kids given that there are other clubs within 15 minutes (Mount Horeb Energy Center and Princeton Club) that are just as convenient with hours, security, and machines PLUS they have an area for family members to wait. AND they have live instructors too. If you want to work out to a TV screen, invest in some good videos and save yourself the money. The one plus that this company has is location is in more visible area so I always felt safe if I wanted to work out during times of day when there were fewer people around.
