Kinsmen Sports Centre

Biggest pool you can ask for. Highest diving board you can jump from. Large outdoor pool. Great spray park. Huge field to picnic. Just a fantastic place to walk by the river as well. Must see location.
At Kinsmen, forget about working on a sport you like or a talent you have. It’s all business and survival of the fittest wallet! My first impression was that the facility had a lot for me to do; however, you are limited in a lot of ways unless you belong to a club team. And if you are like me and enjoy playing Soccer, you are better off going to the YMCA. Unlike other sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball, etc... You will not be able to book an area to kick the ball around or improve on your personal skills like kicking or controlling the ball by doing repetitive work. You have to go straight into an expensive club team to play there (So why double pay by getting a membership at Kinsmen? Pay so others in a club team can play? Boo!). They have Soccer nets and there is even an outline of a net for you to kick the ball at; however, people will complain if you play there and the staff will side with them every time. And when I asked why, staff said they paid a lot more money to be there. I said I was willing to make a similar contribution and even book the area; however, they don’t even list Soccer in their schedule so you can’t. Discrimination IMO! And I don’t mean just for Soccer, I bet they will side with anyone who paid more than you regardless of the sport. It’s all money there. I am also upset that my tax dollars are going toward a facility that is not free from bias and won’t share things in a fair manner. IMO they tricked the majority again into paying to build a sports centre so that 1% can enjoy it while the rest of us get fat! And we continue to pay for it today! As for Soccer, here’s another reason why Canada has not yet made the World Cup people! As a Canadian who loves the sport, this really upsets me. You also need to pay again to play Tennis and sports equipment (i.e. Squash Racquet). Don't feel bad if you think you will be paying more at the YMCA either because soon after I quit, my friend received a letter from Kinsmen to tell him that they are rising prices again! And this time to about $60+ dollars per month! So now it's pretty much the same everywhere. Also, NAIT is free for life if you went to school there; they also have a Soccer team.
Love this facility! Has two indoor running tracks, indoor and outdoor pool, full gym, extra weights room and other exercise equipment. Not a fan of the bathroom be locker rooms though. Good child minding care.
Best place for athletes to train. The equipment might not be the latest, but it has more than enough to cover all your needs.
A well run recreation centre, but watch for thieves. They regularly patrol the locker rooms looking for easy locks to break. Happened to me Jan 7, 2013.
