I enjoy going there but they have the shittiest hours possible. I work a lot of late nights and early mornings which makes it difficult to get any sort of a good workout in because the hours are so shit. And frankly closing at 8pm on a Saturday is ridiculous. Also they don't have towels for the showers or work out rooms which I find weird. Granted when my parents still payed my membership fees I went to the Ontario Racquetball Club and its a much nicer and extremely more pricy establishment, but I feel like if you are going to have shower facilities you should have towels. Any time I've phoned or went to the desk to ask questions they make you feel like you're wasting their time. They lay out kind of sucks but you get over it and the equipment is old. You can see the wear and tear and that the facilities aren't kept up properly.
Overall this gym has an okay selection of gym equipment and is kept somewhat clean. I have been disappointed by the management and professional conduct of the staff but they are rotated through the gym so quickly this does not surprise me. In the change rooms the paper towel dispensers are usually empty when I go in the evening and even in the middle of the afternoon on occasion. The garbage is usually overflowing and the temperature is kept way too hot. So be prepared to begin sweating as soon as you have left the shower. When equipment is broken it usually takes 2-4 weeks for it to be repaired, even critical equipment like squat racks. I have left my tablet charging accidentally in the change room. I phoned that evening when I realized this to hear that someone had turned it in to the lost and found. (thank you) By the time I arrived the next day it had been stolen out of the lost and found. It took three days of asking before the managers admitted it had been stolen. When I spoke to a long time staff member they were dumbfounded why it had not been put in the safe were lost electronics were kept. When I asked this question of the staff who were working that day and the managers I got various conflicting and aggressive responses ranging from it being my fault because I had not told them to keep the tablet in the safe to the excuse that putting electronics in the safe immediately breaks them so they do not use the safe for phones or tablets. I got no apologies or explanations and they have not changed their standard operating procedures. So if you lose a valuable and are unlucky enough to have someone working that day that does not know about the safe you will lose it. I stay because of my low membership fee but I take no chances with valuables when there. Not because I worry about the lockers, but because I now know the quality of the staff. I have been a member at this gym for over three years now so I know what the general trends are. I signed up when they had a deal on so I pay very little compared with an average gym membership (about one third). This is why I stay. If it wasn't so low I would vote with my wallet and go elsewhere.
It's been years since we were members here. Change rooms were rarely clean, showers broken often, limited cardio pieces so we were always waiting to use a treadmill or elliptical. Small free weight area... Fortunately Lifetime Fitness opened up down the street!
