Being Fit Fitness Center

I've lost 15 pounds so far. Very convenient, but no A/C. Tried to attend free yoga classes but on first attempt heard some women complaining loudly that they had complained to the owner the classes were too large. They said they felt the owner should have to attend the classes. It sounded like they knew the owner personally. I attended two classes and both times some of the old ladies snapped at my questions. A few other people chimed in and were more than helpful. But the negative vibe I was getting was so unpleasant I just stick to the treadmill. Everyone pays the same fee and the rude women there have no right to be so territorial.
This is a pretty small gym with older equipment - that being said, they have everything you need to get a great workout. Squat rack, kettleballs, assisted dip/pull up and plain/dip pullup, bench press, etc etc. There are a lot of weight machines as well, but I can't list them as I do mostly free weights. Room for cardio equipment too. Inexpensive, very casual atmosphere. No bouncy anorexic gym bunnies or meatheads (though there are plenty of hella fit men and women), just a lot of locals there for a good workout. The classes range from small to busy, but since it's a small gym you still end up getting a lot of individual attention. They are taught by real people who are older and wear tshirt but could run circles around you (or at least me). I really like this place. Inexpensive, minimalist, very cool atmosphere. Clean but old. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, too. Only thing I would change is to have one or two spinning bikes.
No frills vanilla flavored neighborhood gym, and that is a good thing. It can get crowded after work but not so bad as to ice your workout. If you live within jogging distance, go for it; otherwise you probably have something like it ( or a big 24 hour fitness type) closer to you.
The trashed Mira Mesa with their flyers, disregarding requests to stop delivering the flyers.
I just joined recently. I have had two complimentary training sessions with a supportive trainer. I am continuing to commit to more training. The gym is clean, and the members and the staff work to keep it that way. It is small charm which you don't find much anymore. The energy is about getting healthy and fit...not about dating and beauty contests.
