24 Hour Fitness
Reviews
I spoke with salesperson and manager about the situation before writing this review. I was sharing with them in hopes that the issues would be taken care of and I would then join the club. The salespersons were polite and receptive to my issues even admitting there were problems. They seemed concerned and wanted to help fix the problems. However, the manager tried to argue any criticism, even trying to make me feel like I was dreaming it up. I was not shocked tonight as I read all the other reviews. Here is what I found after 2 visits - Pool area filthy. Hot Tub closed. Sauna smelled horrible, gym basket ball players in there with all their sweaty shoes and clothes. Bathroom ( Beyond dirty. Door on stalls broken off. Both toilets covered in &&^^%%. No seat covers. No paper towels. No swim suit dryer. Showers broken and cold.) Had to go to front every time i had a question as I was new, meaning, never ever saw one employee walking around or cleaning. Outdated and broken equipment. When I asked if there was Wi Fi, I was treated as if I were asking for the moon. Well, when on the bike, I like to use Wi Fi and have NEVER in a few years been to a gym or rec center without wi fi. I was amazed at how packed the gym was. It would be interesting to see how busy it would be if it were cleaned up. Gold's gym, YMCA, both so far superior. Again, did to want to share this publicly. I wish the manager had stepped up to the plate rather than try and ignore the issues.
Shouldn't even get a 1 star ratings If they have fitness centers in third world countries, this one would still be the worst. The locker room is filthy, the showers(the few that still have shower heads or handles) have broken and moldy tiles. The steam room smells like something died in there. And like all the Colorado Springs Clubs, having the hot tubs or pool open and operating is a daily crap shoot. Simply put...24 Hours in Colorado Springs is pitiful.
I just switched to 24 from golds because it's closer to my house and I'll probably never go to this gym again. For starters, this place is absolutely filthy. The locker rooms are worse than gas station bathrooms, the equipment is always trashed, the cardio equipment is mostly broken. Because of lack of other options, this place is always packed with people who have no interest in being responsible human beings, putting their weights back, being friendly etc. I've been in gyms my entire adult life and never been in one this horrendous.
I've finally remembered to do this after several pretty major mishaps. Twice I've gotten ready to swim (I have a whole process I go through once/wk!) and walked out to the pool and NO SIGN to tell me it's closed. So I started calling first as to not waste my time. This past time, the showers were fairly cold when I was preparing to swim, thinking many people must be using the hot water, hoping it would replenish in the hour it'd take me to come back after swimming. NO. Instead, it was FREEZING cold. Another woman was very angry and said she'd have to go home to shower, but already had wet hair on a cold day. I didn't have time for that and had to wash my hair cocked over like a chicken as to not freeze my body. It was most unpleasant. When we told the front desk, they seemed aware of it, but instead of apologizing, they curtly said "We know, we know...we're having it looked at" (annoyed they had to tell yet another patron) They need to shut down & do a major renovation to fix the problem, and FLIPPING PUT UP SIGNS WHEN THINGS ARE EITHER NOT WORKING OR SHUT DOWN!!! It's not that hard! (thanks for reading)
I used to be a member here but got tired of the dirt and everything being broken. The only reason I stayed was the daycare, but it wasn't worth it. I joined another gym about 2 miles away and couldn't be happier. If you're considering this 24 Hour Fitness do yourself and shop around. There's much better options in this neighborhood.
