Cesar, the early morning front desk attendant was extremely helpful and friendly. All the sales staff were nice and took time out of the day to come say hello. The place was clean and the staff and other attendees were friendly and happy. A great experience. Ask for the in state price if you plan on using it only in CT. It's $34.95 without the $99 activation fee. Oh, and you might want to buy a $5 lock if you bring in valuable possessions. I don't think anybody is going in the locker room with a set of bolt cutters ;) Common sense goes a long way sometimes.
Have heard way too many bad things about this place. All I want to do is work out in a clean safe environment and not deal with management. But I'm sure at some point I might have to and I've heard terrible things about the management here. Also noticed most all the reviews here are negative.
Although this gym has excellent equipment and is overall a great gym, the management is not. I signed up for their free 3 day trial guest pass and drove to the gym. The weekend general manager, Amanda, asked for me to present a local ID, which I did not have. I pointed out that no where on their website nor in the fine print of the guest pass did it say that I had to have a local ID to work out here. She then directed my attention to a sign on the wall that said that a local ID must be presented. I tried to contest this, noting that this should have been written somewhere in the fine print before I took the time to drive down there and planned my day around working out that day. Amanda said something along the lines of “I can't let you work out, I could get fired if I do.” However, the other employee there suggested that if I pay $15, I could work out there.... without a local ID. So, in my experience the management did not handle the situation well. It was not so much as me having to have to prove residency as having to have to pay to work out or at least be sold on buying a membership. I think the situation could have been solved easily if the GM just allowed me to work out for free, as the free trial guest pass was intended, and within the limits of the fine print of the guest pass. I was pretty disappointed with the quality of management in this gym and the unwillingness to waive a fee that was not supposed to be there in the first place. I wasted 30 minutes of my life and some gas because of this. I hope this review can be helpful to anyone planning on trying this gym out.
There have been lot of locker break ins lately. My locker was broken in yesterday and they emptied my vallet and I do not know if they stole my identity. According to the staff it is a comman occurence. I was surprised to know that LA Fitness does not have security cameras any where on the facility. I thought that locker rooms were equiped with security cameras. How many more break in will take place before they put in cameras on the premiss. LA Fitness should install Security Cameras ASAP if the want to stay in business.
Worst sale people and customer service! if you live between Bristol and Farmington, go to Bristol club, much better equipped and services. I was been told by Angelo that Bristol club is old and bad, and I can always do transfer if I want, so I signed up with them. But it turned out to me that Bristol club is much nicer and even have a full indoor basketball court, most important there are Walmart, Shoprite, stop&shop nearby very convenient. So I asking for a transfer, then things got urgly. it has been a month since I start asking for a transfer, I feel I was treated a Pingpong ball between 2 clubs, everytime I check with them, Mark or Angelo just play like they are doing a transfer, I am paying $130 for personal training and $30 for member fee, but I just feel I can get much better service somewhere else. It has been 4 weeks, let's count how long the transfer will be done.
