LA Fitness

I am extremely pissed with LA fitness!!! I am letting it be known on Facebook, twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and every social media site I can think of. I declare war!! I have been a faithful member of LA fitness off and on since 1999. I tried to upgrade to a signature gym, because the la fitness I went to closed. When I I did they informed me, I would have to pay an extra twenty dollars a month. I told them I have a friend with the same exact membership, and she only pays 30$ a month at the signature gym. The manager wanted me to breech my friend’s privacy by giving him her information. I called the so called corporate number and they were rude and unprofessional. And hung up in my face twice. I would never recommend LA fitness to anyone, to the contrary, I only have bad things to say. I will also be terminating my membership because of unscrupulous practices. Why are you SCAMMING your loyal customers??
As a Fitness professional, I give this place a thumbs up, if you would like a place with a non threatening atmosphere, quality and variety in equipment, and my favorite.... Lower than average attendance #s during peak hours...(machines and brenchs are open) this would be the one to consider because it's right next to the University rec center which is where most of the people are. This is my second review of LA Fitness, this review is from the consumer / member side. As my previous review LA Fitness a new one.-- I will be fair to them and to myself and give the flip side of the calling from the buyers perspective. The LA Fitness on South Harper is actually quite nice, in fact this one was exceptionally clean and it did have very nice equipment most of it brand new . As an employee my main concern at the LA Fitness on North Broadway was the process of sales that was going on and the manipulation tactics used to lock members into half or full year memberships, mind you that was at the personal training sales dept. If you are considering this gym, recommend you speak with a membership counselor in the sales department by the name of Dawn**. I did go into it with a "shoppers attitude" (no wallet in hand) and I let her know I am a personal trainer so I get the business, but she was honest straightforward, pleasant to talk to. I got the feeling that she knew I was not going to purchase anything that night yet she still took the time and was patient with me - which is what I look for - someone who will make an investment in me on the chance that there might be no reward in it for them... She seemed to do just that. The main reason I recommend her is because I let her know that I needed to do research on other gyms in the area and she at that point did not discourage me from doing so, her sales tactics were honest, which I respected.
My experience with LA fitness is not that good. My wife enrolled with a trainer and that time they told us, trainer will spend 45 to 60 Minutes for individual training. In reality they will give you only 25 minutes during your sessions. Per session will cost you $50. They also told us that, we will able to cancel our contract anytime but they lied. I have to give them $1100 to cancel my contract!! They told us reading contract is client responsibility. Please be careful before sign any contract with them. Management will not honor what sales people promised you. I haven’t received any copy of my contract either .it is been 10 days I am asking for a copy of my contract.
La Fitness in Hyde Park is the top of the line signature club which has special amenities. The staff is wonderful. This is like a club atmosphere.
The best place to workout and work in Hyde Park
