Life Time Fitness

Yes it's always busy, yes it's expensive. But the amenities at lifetime are the best. Almost all the people that give 2 or 1 stars give that rating all because of what happens around cancellation time. You shouldn't give a place 1 star because you didn't read or listen to anything as you were signing up because they told you to cancel in advance and it must be the person attending the gym. That's the policy at almost every gym. If you actually want to use more than cardio equipment definitely sign up.
I joined a little over a month ago and am actively training with John Binkowski or "Bink" for short. The club has immaculate facilities, amazingly clean locker rooms and wonderful marble floors/showers. The indoor pools, saunas and hot tubs are really a nice touch. They have both indoor and outdoor water slides for some added fun plus an outdoor hot tub. The lifespa is really nice as well and I use their services frequently. Their lifecafe has a really nice menu and even included pre-prepared meals for post workouts. Though I wish they would offer maybe one dish or two for the pescatarian diet (fish/seafood). Their staff is helpful and friendly to members. There are a few areas they could work on, some of the hair driers in the men's locker room need to be replaced but that's a minor issue. The outdoor pool closes at 8pm most nights and I understand that but it would be nice if the hot tub could stay open till maybe 9pm during the spring and summer months but that is another minor issue. I have yet to have a purely bad experience at the club. There are plenty of group events and classes open to all members for free such as cycle, a hip-hop cardio class (which I have yet to try), yoga and pilates classes as well. If you want private training or classes that are one on one you will have to pay extra for that but that is expected to be honest. There are multiple basketball courts and squash courts as well. While I am more interested in strength training, I am sure at some point I will be using those too. The physical training staff of Bink, Evan, Steven and Murphy have been a big help to getting me on the correct path to fitness even when Im not in a training session. In the lifespa Cammie is absolutely amazing at helping revitalize my muscles after a hard week of working out. Being open 24/7 is a big plus as well!
Bought membership for daughter they take payment from MY credit card as agreed. Everything is fine till I want to cancel bcuz daughter went to Iowa for school. Then the real nightmare begins. They will not allow me to cancel account because I am not the member???? They are taking money from MY checking account NOT my daughter's . I cannot stop it????? WTF???? What a waste of breath and time the manager Tammy was absolutely a JERK!!! She had the nerve to tell me to have my daughter drive 336 miles one way to come sign some fn document to stop the account if I dont want to be charged another month THAT DAY!!!!
I will admit, it's a nice facility. However, just about everything else you see around you costs extra and isn't included in the membership costs, such as massages, food area, etc. The locker room isn't really that clean and to be honest, the place is always packed no matter what time you go in there. It just isn't worth the high price so you can get a free towel. There are plenty of other places you can go for a better deal and the same work out. By the way, they will try to coax you with the "free classes" but unless that's really your thing, then that is only plus side of the place.
Its an alright gym. I like the warrenville one better, the staff here are kind of obnoxious and not lenient at all. Me along with 5 of my friends have experienced lots of difficulties coming back on breaks/summer when we reinstated membership. A lot of my friends who used to go quit to work out at Edwards because of this gym. Just make sure you never slip up or make any mistakes, this gym will make you pay for it. Literally.
