Urban Active - Corporate Headquarters
Reviews
This gym will charge your credit card at the drop of the hat, but it takes a stack of paper work to have them reverse the charges. Even though I paid all of the fees to cancel my membership, I am still be charged monthly 3 months after my cancelation date. If they do not stop their activity I am seriously considering sueing them under the basis of Federal Credit laws. If you go into this gym you will notice that they have only 1 person to take care of the members, but they have about 4-5 slick sales guys simply waiting around to sign people up for the gym membership. I run a business, and I would never run my business this way. Urban Active has no moral ground or ethical compass.
I have been a member of many gyms in the Lexington area over the past decade. All have been a positive experience...except Urban Active. The way this place does business is unbelievable. Their billing and cancellation policies completely take advantage of their members. And if you ever have to deal with management, which you will if you make the mistake of becoming a member, good luck. Management is rude, berating, unprofessional and downright shady. It is a shame that a local business such as this is run in this manner. It is a major letdown. Reviews of this place speak for itself. And remember, this location is the closest to their corporate headquarters so this is a direct reflection of the way this gym does business. The people at Urban Active are a classic example of how NOT to run a gym. I will advise everyone I know to steer clear of this shady gym and take their business elsewhere.
spoke with Josh Green at Palumbo location, came across arrogrant - Having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities. I was told by the staff that all I had to do was to bring cancellation form drop off, nothing about a 10.00 fee. He made me feel like I stole the form and I was in the wrong. I am tired of people who are suppose to be attune to CUSTOMER CARE ISSUES (NOT) why work in that sitting if you can't treat everyone fairly. Nothing out of his mouth acknowledging the staff who gave me the form in the first place it was all about what he wanted to say. forget the customers. I have been in customer service for 35yrs ...its a shame that ONE person can make you disappointed in people . I am glad I am leaving even though it was for major health issues, I will NOT recommend Urban Active Gym to a single person. I had to give a rating he doesn't deserve one star................
Wish i had read all the reviews before i joined 2 years ago. Actually it's not the joining, but the canceling that is appalling. DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!!! If you want specifics, read all the reviews about this and the other locations in town. A far as a business category, the BBB lists 'Health Clubs' as #20 overall in complaints for the whole nation in 2009 - out of over 3,000 categories of businesses!! This company is truly nothing more than a scam. The gym downtown gets a C (Palomar and Palumbo are nice facilities, to be fair), the staff a C-, and this whole issue of contracts and canceling they get a...what's worse than an F-minus? I guess an "F-You", cuz that's their attitude to all of us. Don't let the 'friendly' staff fool you when you go in to check the place out; that will only last as long as you are under contract. You have been warned.
I recently have been trying to cancel my membership because the treadmills have been broken for 1 YEAR....and I ma being told that the only way to cancel is to go online and print off a pice of paper and pay for postage and mail it in....and after a month they can cancel...AND THIS IS A NEW POLICY. Someone please tell me why a business would change its policy to only dealing with paper in this day and age. THIS IS COMPLETE B*llSh*T
