Bodyworks Fitness Center
Reviews
I highly recommend Bodyworks Fitness Center. Its under new ownership with Seth and his wife, Lindsay. Needed to get in shape for my wedding and they were very accommodating. I have not had any issues whatsoever with the gym or management. The 24 hour gym was great with my hectic schedule. Entrance after management is not present, the gym is secured with security code entries and security cameras. Always felt safe here. They have friendly helpful trainers and I liked that the staff new the members by name. They were able to provide me with a personal workout plan and helped me with my awareness of healthy eating habits. Even if the place is busy I was always able to find a piece of equipment to work on. They have a wide variety of equipment. Access to showers at the gym were offered too so if running late I could get dressed for work there. The place has always been clean when I have worked out, the new management tries to keep up with it all.Liked the idea of paying per month for membership being an option. And people on cell phones was never an issue. If you haven't been there in a while or need a fitness gym try out Bodyworks and give them a chance. I loved this gym!!!
While I don't understand the previous complaints because you have complete free will to check out the equipment before you sign a contract (it's a one-room gym, everything is right out there for you to see), I do have one blatant warning. A 24-hour gym is very nice, but it's also a breeding ground for discourteous members. When there is not a staff member present, you can count on douchebag meatheads working out shirtless (very sanitary), guys trying to be macho and lifting weights way too heavy for them which results in them dropping them from chest-height and sounding like the roof is falling down, and obnoxious girls who carry on lengthy, personal, LOUD conversations on their cell phones the entire time they're working out (which I just cannot make sense of). Exercising is supposed to make you feel good but I often leave feeling more annoyed than when I came. The written rules are worthless; they have absolutely no bearing.
Apparently the owners like to talk smack about the members who used to go there. I find out that one of them talked smack about my one tattoo on my arm that showed. Always smelt like bad B.O. and the owners acted like they knew how to train, but wouldn't know the first thing about burning calories
This gym is not terrible, not wonderful. Some of the equipment is new, some not so new. The clientele is VERY guy-heavy. No matter what time of the day that I've been there, it's always no less than 75% guys in there, just as an FYI as I know that there are women who wouldn't care for that. It doesn't bother me, and everyone seems to mind their own business. The personal TV's on a lot of the cardio equipment is nice to have. The locker rooms are in very good shape and well kept. The staff is neither fantastic nor awful, in my experience. I signed up here because it's one of the only gyms that offers month to month, and I'm moving soon. Would have picked somewhere else if I'd been planning on staying, honestly, but it's served its purpose.
The equiptment is new, Cardio is very nice with personalized TV's on them so you can watch what you want and plug in your head phones. The convience for me with the 24hr access lets me work out when I want, and with the showers I can catch a quick workout over lunch. The Free classes that the trainers put on through out the week have really helped me reach my fitness goals.
