I-Fit Elite
Reviews
It's small, $10 a month and doable. Nothing fancy and per reading the reviews since I'm not looking for anyone or I could care less if they look at me I'm fine with it. I go in, get my job done & get out. Get over yourselves people you get what you pay for $10 a month works for me.
Nice gym with all you need close too a great area, very convenient for after work gym runs
First off, the fact that they have not succeeded in changing this to I-fit Elite or whatever after about a year pretty much sums it up. I suppose the same person who maintains their web stuff is in charge of maintaining their front door since it has been broken for 6 months, much of the equipment is broken, the equipment is situated so everyone is looking awkwardly at everyone else (for example depending what ab machines you use, you will either have a view of someone's crotch or they will have a view of yours), the clientele is low (same guy reserving 6 machines/benches), and the manager yelled at me once for not using those wire clip things on bench press. I mean it's fine if you say it is for liability reasons, but especially from a manager I would expect to not be yelled at as a customer. That being said, it is $10 per month. Realistically if you can afford more, I would recommend it. Actually the main thing is they never got an educated person to do the design of how the equipment is orientated. It feels like everyone is staring at you, and I realized when I heard some girls talking about all the guys constantly gawking at them, that it is simply poorly arranged. Too bad as it is close to home. If you don't mind picking through broken equipment, being placed in awkward crotch spreading situations, asking the equipment horder what equipment he is not using, getting yelled at by a drill sergeant when you don't use the wire clips on bench press, and paying a low $10 dollars a month, it's the place to go. I do however admit that even taking into account the broken and worn equipment, there is a lot of equipment for $10 a month so I give it 2 stars.
This is by far the worst gym I have ever been too. The management at this place is horrible and the credit card company they send you payments to is worse. I was a member there for a year while I was in Crowley area. I moved to Austin, Texas on 6/12/11 and contacted Gold's and they said I needed to send a letter to their card company with a copy of my lease in Austin. Since they are not corporate you cannot transfer gyms. I mail it to the PO BOX 6800 address I was given. They still charged. I called several times to Gold's and they said there is nothing they can do. They only take payments. They cannot cancel a membership or stop a payment. Fast forward to March 2012. I called again and Gold's was no help. I called ABC explained the problem again and they said the letter must not have made it. I was advised my contract was going to expire in April anyway and I should just send another letter and they would cancel the membership. Fast forward to September 2012. I called Gold's in Crowley to get help since I could not get ABC to stop charging my card. I told ABC I was going to cancel my card and they said"If you do we will turn you over to collections for non payment and place it on your credit report". I spoke to Hunter at Gold's about this explained how long this had been going on. He stated he need to speak with Michelle and would call me back. I called him 4 times over the next week and he nor Michelle ever returned my call. Fast forward to January 2013. It has been 1 1/2 years since I moved to Austin and they are still charging my card. I called the gym more times and Michelle was supposed to return calls. I have actually never spoken to this person Michelle. But left over a dozen messages. She never will call back. Now we are at February 2013 and I called Gold's and spoke to Kevin. He stated he needed to talk to Michelle and would call back. I tried 2 more time on two different days and left messages for a call back. There has been no call back since. I called ABC today and they said " We can't help you on anything. If you want to cancel you have to send a letter with 60 days notice." I stated "I did". They said" it has to be certified or we do not accept them". I said "I have never heard that they had to be certified before". They stated" Sorry but they do" I got a supervisor on the phone. She gave me the same run around. I explained they had over $900 from me and I have not been to the gym in 2 years and do not live anywhere near it. She said if you would like to send 60 days notice we will cancel. Then she stated she was going to look into it and return my call. Well guess what... No call back and they charged me again today.. I am mailing out a CERTIFIED letter, copy of my lease from 2 years ago and a check for 2 months gym fees. It has also gotten to the point where I have spoken to an attorney and am going to be proceeding that way. Sorry for the long post to everyone... But you do not want to join this gym. They are scammers and crooks and ABC financial is as well. Read the other reviews. The have this down to a science.. BEWARE.
Save yourself from a lot of trouble and stay away from this gym or any Gold's Gym. My husband signed us up for a membership at this location in December 2010. First of all, their contracts are VERY misleading. To our knowledge we were signed up for only a one year membership. It says in big bold letters on the contract it's for one year, however in really tiny writing it says it's actually a TWO year membership contract. We did not know this for several months until we decided we no longer wanted to go there anymore. We didn't like the way the gym was set up, with all the cardio equipment up on a 3-4 ft tall platform or stage in the middle of the gym. Naturally after a long workout your muscles are going to be tired and weak, many times I was afraid I was going to collapse walking down the stairs to get off the thing. It was very dangerous, my mother in-law fell off an elliptical at this location and broke her ribs on the rail that goes around the platform. Another thing, the staff were very unprofessional, they were all teenagers or acted like teenagers. Playing on Facebook and looking at practically naked girls on the computer in full view of the customers. They also liked to just sit and hang out on the equipment around the customers, doing nothing. Needless to say we stopped going after about five months and called to cancel our memberships. That's when we found out about the two year contract we were duped into. Gold's Gym will try and make it damn near impossible for you to get out of your contract, even if it's over. In order to get out of our contract they said we either had to provide proof we moved over 25 miles from any Gold's Gym location (ridiculous, who would drive 20+ miles to the gym every day?) or fax them proof of medical conditions preventing us from using our memberships. Oh, and they wanted $500 on top of that. We didn't have any of that at the time to provide so we had no choice but to keep paying for these memberships we didn't use or want. Now fast forward to the end of the two year contract, finally done with them right? WRONG. Even though we were signed up in December 2010 they informed us the contract didn't actually end until January 2013. Whatever, we just wanted to be sure that after the end of the contract they would stop charging us. They told my husband he had to send them an e-mail stating he wanted to cancel our memberships, which he did. February rolls around and we are charged AGAIN! WTF! Our memberships were OVER, we called before to be SURE it would be over and we did NOT authorize a renewal of our contracts! So my husband calls them and they claim they "never got the e-mail" he sent and our contracts were automatically renewed. They claimed that without the e-mail, they have no "proof" of us ever wanting to discontinue our memberships, despite the fact that they could see the notes on our account from every time my husband has called trying to cancel. Apparently that's not enough "proof" for them. This time they were saying he had to mail them a certified letter stating he wished to cancel our memberships. After arguing back and forth on the phone for over an hour, now all of a sudden an e-mail will be fine, but they're still going to charge us for February AND March and that they'll "waive" April like they're doing us a freaking favor. RIDICULOUS! We shouldn't have to pay for anything past January PERIOD. I feel like Gold's Gym is just a big scam. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!
