Grapevine CrossFit
Reviews
Every gym has it's pros and cons, but where GVCF lacks the most is in it's community. There are several clicks, and it can be difficult to get coaching if you don't belong to the right group. I returned home from 5 months away with the military to a cold, unwelcoming place. Like several other reviewers, I was there since they were in a small place off Dooley Street. There was a lot of drama between the gym owners (a former married couple) that made it's way through the gym, and ultimately caused me to leave. That sort of thing doesn't seem abnormal there, and is the culture they have cultivated. I'd like to point out, in the interest of full disclosure, one of the reviewers is the female owners boyfriend, one works there, and a couple others are in the primary 'click'. They aren't normal members. I hate to leave a scathing review...so, on a positive note, this place has amazing potential, and hopefully will realize that in the future. GVCF also has some great programming, and their open gym policy is awesome. It's definitely not the worst place to get a workout in.
I started at Grapevine Crossfit in June 2013 and have been there ever since. Shane is my trainer and he is awesome. Everyone there is encourages me all the time. I have lost 34lbs and I am getting stronger everyday.
My wife and I joined GVCF in August of 2013. Both in our 40's we were unsure if Crossfit was right for us. From day one, the owners and ALL the coaches have welcomed us, expertly coached us and encouraged us as we progressed. We've met so many nice people here. We can't say enough about how welcome we've felt and encourage everyone to give GVCF a try.
My husband and I have been members at GVCF since the spring of 2011. It has such a welcoming atmosphere. All levels are welcome, whether you just want to get in shape or you are looking for a competitive outlet or somewhere in the middle. GVCF is not just a gym, it is a community. All of the coaches are very professional and helpful. Forever grateful for what I have been given here.
I started back when they were at the much smaller old gym off Dooley street, and they were very welcoming and laid back. But with that being said, they were also very knowlegable with their training methodologies and had very solid bases to work from. I would not be the athlete that i am today without the base that was built there. Now that they are in their new, much larger location, the community has only grown stronger. It is a very family orientated place with a large kids room where i think just about every kid there is now best friends with the others, and the same can be said about their parents. It is also a very competitive gym with their team making it to regionals the last 2 years and winning multiple competitons, both team wise, and individually. So if youre looking for a competitive place to grow your skills, an outlet to relieve stress for an hour, a community that you can appreciate and count on, or even a place for you kid to find and make new friends, Grapevine CrossFit is definiely a must try.
