My son and I started our membership at this location in October of 2014. Our first few visits were okay but, after a week or two I noticed how difficult it was to ask any questions or show any concerns with the staff members without seeming like im inconveniencing them. The managers were pretty nice at first but, shortly after started showing less concern as well. NOT TO MENTION my 22 year old son even bragged to me about purchasing pot from the redheaded girl at the front desk. NOT COOL! My next visit I witnessed her for myself VERY OBVIOUSLY high, plus she smelled like pot. Needless to say, I never went back. Even though this location is close to my home, id rather drive an extra 10 minutes to the Willowbrook location. Not to mention, they have way more features...
This place is bad. During the summer of 2014, there was an entire month where the air conditioner was broken. This is Houston. Summer. Gym. This should have been the first priority but it took an entire month to fix. Then when it was fixed, this gym sets the temperature to 78 but with the humidity, expect a balmy 85 degrees. Then the conditioner units will only work sometimes. Management seems to be oblivious to this problem and will question why you think it's hot even though everyone is sweating buckets. Sweating in a gym is fine, but sweating so much because of the heat and humidity and unable to complete your routine is not fine. Machines also tend to break and stay broken for weeks, even when you alert the staff to the problems. The staff doesn't check the machines themselves and relies on customers to report the problem. You also won't need to bring a towel here because no one else does. There are even some guys who workout without shirts so be prepared to hose down any equipment you want to use unless you like someone else's sweat. There are four water fountains in the gym but only one will give you cold water, the rest only provide warm water (I guess most people like that). You'll have to alert the staff when the filter is going bad and explain what a filter is because they won't understand why it would taste so bad. It might get repaired in about two to three weeks if you remind them every day. The bathrooms are only cleaned once a day so if you go in the evening, be prepared to step into someone else's urine surrounding the urinals that are never flushed. If you tell the staff that the bathrooms are dirty, they'll remind you that cleaners will arrive towards midnight. I guess that's a hint that you should probably come after midnight and before the morning rush if you want a clean bathroom. The soap containers are rarely filled so be sure to bring your own soap to wash your hands. Some guys will also air dry their bodies with the dryers so try not to breathe for a few minutes until you can leave. At night, no one is at the front desk. Sometimes you will find him wandering with his phone and listening to music while also working out -- if you can find him at all. As for the positives, the gym used to have a serious funky aroma to it but seems to be gone ... for now.
Had a membership at this facility for the summer I spent in Houston Staff. The staff was courteous, membership was reasonably priced, and all the equipment I needed was there. No complaints. When I was accidentally overcharged 24 hour was professional about getting me refunded.
This used to be my main gym, and then I began to notice the cuts. Equipment started being down on a weekly basis, and I felt like I was wasting my money. Classes would be there and then gone with no explanation. I then went to another location and get exactly what I used to get here. I just called to verify that , per the 24 hour website, that the spin bikes are still there. The lady at the front desk didn't even know what a spin bike was!!! I could deal with that, but her attitude was the truly bad part. This location needs to be completely dissolved and made into some independent club that wouldn't further tarnish 24's reputation. I ask that they provide updated images of their club as the one shown here on this site is not accurate.
They have decent equipment, most of the time it is not too crowded. I have heard people got their cars broken into but I don't know when they were there....I have had a good experience there
