When I signed up for my membership in 2013 I was told that my husband and I didn't need to get 2 memberships because we would be able to "Bring a Friend". I recently went back to Gold Gym with a friend and was notified that I was no longer able to bring a friend due to blackout restrictions. I was never notified of this change through an email or written letter and since I hadn't been to the gym in a while I was aware of this new thing. I inquired with management about the policy and was informed that it may just be temporary and the reasonings for the blackout which were: 1.There are more non paying guests than there are paying members using the facility. Members are bringing guests and after the guests have been coming "regularly with the member" the guest would come in on there own without the member and use the facility.* 2. Guests are "sneaking" into the classes* 3. Guests are not invested in the equipment and are breaking the equipment 4. Other issues that we are not willing to discuss with our members at this time. I was also told while discussing my membership with the manager that "I see that you only pay $20.00 a month (which I pay 19.14 after taxes) therefore under that plan you shouldn't even be able to bring a guest. I was told this IN FRONT OF MY GUEST! I pay "so little" because I have been a Member for so long. I had explain that when I signed up I was told that no matter what, my pay would not be increased, and my benefits would remain the same and I would have use of all the "extra amenities" such as "bring a friend", tanning, classes, etc... (please know that I understand that guests are able to use the equipment and not the extras such as classes {with the exception of their first class free}, tanning, etc...) I called to speak with the owners who own both Logan and Pocatello and talked with Ari Price (who claimed to be one of the owners.) When I discussed the situation with her she apologized for the inconvenience, but gave me the same information as the manager of the Logan facility. She also brought up that I don't pay as much as newer members and that I shouldn't be able to bring a friend. I again explained to her the same as I did the manager, her response was, "We are discussing what we are willing to allow for members who signed up under the old ownership that don't pay the same amount as the newer members. It isn't fair to them that you get the same perks as they do when you don't pay the same." This made me feel that, although I have been a loyal member to golds, that I was not appreciated as a member. This isn't the first issues I have had either, I had also been overcharged twice that have not been refunded, (it was around 5 dollars each time, I was told that they had been credited but after looking back again, its never came to my bank account or off my months payments) I am frustrated an very sad that the employees and the owners would treat such disrespect and distain. I would NOT suggest enrolling in a company that will bully's you and makes their members feel like they are the problem. *Please note: These reasons are due to the Employees of Gold's Gym NOT fulfilling their job so the backlash has fallen onto the members.

My husband and I had a bad experience at Gold's Gym in Logan and do not recommend it to anyone. We joined the gym because they had a promotion going on where when a person signs up for a one year contract, they can bring a guest to work out with them. Since my husband and I enjoy working out together, it seemed like a great deal because we could both come to the gym for the price of one membership. Less than 6 months later, a sign appeared on the door of Gold's Gym saying that until further noticed, guests were no longer allowed to come to the gym, only paying members. Really? What business does that? They basically revoked their biggest selling point for us and many other members, with no attempt to send out an email or letter in the mail informing everyone of their change in policy. The rug was pulled out from under us and when that policy changed, there was no reason for us to stay at Gold's Gym when we'd be paying the same price as we would at any other gym in our area. We toured another local gym (Kubex) and felt that by buying two memberships there, we would get a higher quality workout experience there than we could paying for two memberships at Gold's Gym. The per-membership price was so similar that it was a no-brainer for us. We decided to cancel our Gold's Gym membership and at separate times spoke with different employees about the cancellation policy. Both employees told us that in order to cancel, we would have to pay a cancellation fee but not the remainder of our contract. But when we came to sign the cancellation paperwork, we were informed that actually, both employees we previously spoke to gave us the wrong information, and that in order to cancel without paying the balance remaining on our contract, the reason for cancellation must be moving, medical, or military. When we spoke with the gym's managers about the pattern of miscommunication and misrepresentation among their employees along with the unprofessional way the guest policy was changed and asked what they were willing to do to make up for their mistakes in this situation, they were not willing to take on that responsibility. They said either we could pay the remaining balance or we could find a new customer for them that would take our place for the remainder of the contract. Really? It's not like we were expecting them to just forgive the rest of the balance on the contract, but we were hoping they'd take responsibility for their mistakes and give us some type of discount, maybe 15-25% off that remaining balance. But no, their only way of "working with" a dissatisfied customer who is taking their business elsewhere because of their employees' mistakes is if by asking that customer to go out and drum up business for them and find a new customer to take their place! Unbelievable. It's common knowledge that an unhappy customer can hurt a business much more in the long run than if they lose a few bucks to ensure the customer leaves with a good taste in their mouth. Well, we are not happy, so if this is how Gold's Gym wants to play the game, they can bet we're using our "word of mouth" power to persuade other people avoid the misrepresentation and unprofessionalism of Gold's Gym by taking their business elsewhere.

I seriously would recommend this gym to EVERYONE who actually wants to make a good healthy lifestyle change. I had just gained a bunch of baby weight prior to finding a gym and, being a very athletic individual, knew what I needed and wanted in a gym. I toured every gym in this valley and tried them out and when I got to Gold's the customer service blew everyone else out of the water. I was greeted with a smile and professionalism. I didn't feel like they were just trying to sell me something. They actually asked me what my goals were. Nobody else took the time to do that, and they had confidence in their facility. They didn't just expect it to sell itself. There are so many things I would have missed without someone to show me around the gym. The classes are all included too! One thing that sold me was the olympic squat rack and platform and the child care. I not only signed up for a membership on the spot, but also did some personal training because I'd tried everything else and they guaranteed they were Logan's premier results facility, so I gave it a try. Within my first 3 months as a member, I was down 25 pounds due to their certified personal trainers assistance and the top of the line equipment. I won't go anywhere else. It's super clean and the staff are super quick to help with exercise or nutrition help. Never have I been somewhere that has had such knowledgeable staff. They gave me the knowledge to continue my new fit and healthy lifestyle on my own. If you've struggled with weight-loss and are tired, let Gold's take care of you!

Read everything on the contract before you sign. Ignore their smiling faces because they know they are trying to con you by sugar coating everything. Do not believe everything (or even anything) they say, there are ALWAYS a fine print of what they are saying. So if you must join them, ask very detail questions and read everything in the contract. Not to mention the countless phone calls they make to try to get you to buy their personal training. This is one of the two things (another being lying about the contract) I am very upset about. They gave me a free introductory session of personal training of an hour. Basically it is just explaining how it works and measure your fitness level at the moment. But then afterwards, they held me there and try to "SELL" me their personal training packages, starting at $1200 or some crap like that. I think it was this guy name Kyle, who just would not let me leave until I have signed up. He just kept bugging me and saying these BS arse-backwards motivational things like "Oh if you really want it (my fitness goals of gaining 25 pounds of muscles), you need this", "It just depends on how much you want it", "Compare to what you are going to accomplish, this is a small fee to pay", all the non-sense. I kept my manners and not burst out laughing at how ridiculous his behavior and logic were. I managed to leave after being held there for 40 minutes. Then the phone calls begin, I probably got 4-6 phone calls in 2 weeks. Then I finally convinced them that I will not buy it anytime soon. Just ridiculous. Not sure how these membership sales people sleep at night. If you ever need to get out of the 1 year membership early, good luck with that. You will be paying basically the entire remaining balance (what they call a small fee) to cancel your membership. So ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, and don't believe what they are telling you unless it is on paper!!! They use a third-party company to bill you, which makes EVERYTHING related to money extremely difficult. They would say something like "we have no control", "we can't do that", "we don't do the billing", "They don't allow us to do that", etc. As if they do not have control over how they (the gym) are billing you. Again, ask specific questions! (or just don't join them, continue reading and you will see) This is the first gold's gym I am using, so I cannot compare it with others. The space seems okay. I chose this over other gyms in town because of their MMA room, which was okay. There is a monster truck tire in there for training, so it ALWAYS smell like rubber in the room; very annoying to deal with when you are doing something physically and mentally demanding. Male locker room is okay clean. The lockers are always dirty because people put their shoes in there. It is even worse in winter because of the snow. Mostly male staff at this gym, a lot of them seem like the college jock type. They are ok friendly, but you can tell they say "how is going" only because they have to, not because they want to. I would say how is going back, and they would just ignore it. I do not appreciate that. I mean, come on, at least humor me and put a smile on your face. If it was not because of the MMA room, I would not have signed up. Avoid if you can, go to Planet Fitness instead. Only $10 a month, no sign up fee, and the best part - NO contract!!! Friendly staff there as far as the two female staffs I talked to. However they have a little bit smaller space (as far as I can tell) compared to Gold's gym. A lot more treadmills than weight training machines. Between 1/3 to 1/2 of the gym (my rough estimate) is filled with treadmills. Overall, at Gold's gym, the contract is a scam, staffs are just above average, I have no reference to compare the space. I should have gone with Planet Fitness instead of Gold's gym, at least I could cancel if I didn't like it.

Don't do the MMA membership or any membership for that matter. My husband signed up for a year long contract, $75 bucks a month so he could attend the MMA classes. The instructors frequently just didn't show up for class. When he went to ask the employees about it they never had any idea what was going on. When bringing this problem up to the management they were extremely unhelpful.
