Wonderful facility, and a great place for anyone looking to improve their quality of life. Everyone will have a different experience, but if taken in stride, and with good attitude, Sports Academy will surely treat you well. While unable to comment on all of their accommodations, as an avid tennis player, their tennis facilities are top notch, tidy, and staffed appropriately; this is rather impressive for a small town. My time has always been well spent at this location, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable health club in the valley.
I've grown up in Cache Valley and have spent years and years going here. Hell, I went to the preschool attached to the building. My high school's graduation party was here. Through the years, I've participated in swim lessons, tennis lessons and camps, personal training, working out on my own, among other activities. Through all of this, I've only had the highest opinion of the Sports Academy. The staff are all happy, friendly, encouraging, and helpful. In particular, Patrick Bell and Derrick Harper have been really good guys to train with, both helping me work towards the results I want. On the tennis side of things, the courts are always clean, the coolers full of cold water, and the tennis staff are great too, Lucas being a great teacher. If you're looking for a all purpose gym in Cache Valley, there is no better place.
I generally liked the gym but since we're moving I needed to cancel my family membership. I was SO frustrated when I called and found out that they have a 60 day cancellation policy! My husband signed us up and I asked him if he knew about that and he said he doesn't remember that being mentioned. Even if it was and he forgot I think it's ridiculous that a gym would require anything over 30 days. You are a gym! It doesn't take you 2 months to cancel billing. After 2 years of perfect payment I should be able to cancel my contract at any time.
How are there positive reviews on the WORST heAlth clubs site? This place is utter crap. It was obvious through my scant interactions with them, that they are starving for money, and going about getting it in all the wrong ways.. You guys have crap PR. Let's face it, their facilities barely look OK in Logan
I recently placed my 8 year old son in swimming lessons at the Sports Academy, and needless to say the situation was awful. To begin with, when I was first registering my son for swimming lessons, I specifically asked the man on the phone what level 3 swimming lessons entailed. I did this, because my son has taken swimming lessons from Utah State University for the past 2 years, since I'm a student there. He previously had taken level 2-3 lessons at USU. Well, the man at the Sports Academy told me specifically that my son would learn the front crawl, back crawl, and side float, since this is what my son essentially learned up at USU. So, I decided to register my son for swimming lessons. Fast forward to the first day of swimming lessons, my son begins swimming with children that are basically around 6 years old, and they are learning to jump into the water and kick with their feet. My wife and I could obviously see that my son was too advanced for the swimming level, since he already knew how to kick with his feet and float, and he already knows the front and back crawl. So, after the first day got over, my wife immediately talked with the swim instructor Meg, and the aquatic director Mark Huntsman about placing my son in a higher level. Both Meg and Mark agreed that my son needed to go into at least level 4 swimming, and ensured that he would be in the level the next day. However, when the second day of swimming came, my wife and I discovered that my son was still in level 3 swimming. My wife immediately talked with the swim instructor once again, and she said that my son would just sit in there for the day. So, my wife preceded to talk with Mark once again, who acted irritated that my wife was bothering him, and said "I told you that he will be in level 4 already, it'll happen." However, when my son's swim lessons got out for the second day, we were told that he will remain in level 3. I decided to take matters into my own hands from that point. I called the Sports Academy, and they said that they would get back with me. Approximately 30 minutes later, Mark Huntsman called me back, and preceded to make a list of excuses and reasons to why my son would remain in level 3, even though we were promised different. He claimed that the Sports Academy's swimming lessons were supposedly more advanced than Utah State's, which is a complete lie, and that my son would learn how to eventually do the front and back crawl later in lesson 3. Acting like a fool, I believed his excuses about the issue, and decided to keep my son in swimming lessons. Well, after 2 weeks of swimming lessons, and 8 sessions, my son only learned how to practice kicking his feet while on his back and stomach, and how to jump into the pool. Furthermore, the swim instructor spent the majority of the 8 sessions dazing off and watching the other swim instructors in the other pool, while the children attempted to swim. She made no attempts to correct the other children's kicking and swimming, just guided them across the pool, and called it a day. Most of all, after swimming lessons were over, my wife and I once again tried to get in contact with the Sports Academy regarding our issues, and they failed to so much as contact us back. I can truly say I have never been so disappointed in my life with a swim program, and this comes from a person that has swam for years. It was certainly a waste of $50, and the Sports Academy definitely lost me as a customer.
