Aparently, custumer satisfaction is worth exactly $30.99. In the middle of moving, I decided to cancel my subscription. I tried doing it online, but of course it couldn't be that simple. I only made it to the gym 5 days after the cut-off date for the member fees due (no warning of course), so they had no problems charging me $30.99 after I was out the door, for next year's member fees due! Your greed has insured that planet Fitness will never again get my business. Congratulations.
Good if u NEED tanning. More expensive than Golds for what you get, very small, not much equipment, crowded during rush hours. Golds has a pool, fitness classes, basketball courts, racquetball courts, hot tub, sauna, planet fitness has none of these. For the $20 a month membership you do get unlimited tanning though, which golds doesn't offer. Planet fitness is also cleaner and more well kept than golds, though it is much smaller and the equipment isn't as nice or varied. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but for my needs I chose golds.
First off, you get what you pay for. That being said, the price is definitely worth what you're getting. $10 a month with no 2 year contract beats all of the other gyms that are $50/month with a 2 year contract. But no, you don't get a personal trainer and the best of the best of the best equipment. What you get is exactly what the average person and casual workout needs. Basic cardio and weight-lifting equipment that works as intended. If you are someone who needs intense physical training for a hobby/job/competition, then yeah, you're better off going to Gold's gym. But most people don't need all the fancy crap, just the basics. And for $10 a month ($20 for premium services) you get what you need, but maybe not everything you want. And it's completely affordable. As for this location, it's the only one I've been to, but there's always been at least a few empty machines somewhere to choose from. There are free group classes at different times, so you're not missing out on some instructions either. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ However, they do lose a couple stars from me for a billing issue I had. This happened when I canceled my membership one time. (I think it's annoying that I have to go in and sign a cancellation form, I'd rather just be able to do it over the phone, but whatever, not a huge deal. You can also mail/fax the form if you moved away.) Everything seemed fine until they sent me a letter a year later asking for $37 (the original $10 for 1 month, plus fees and interest). I called to find out what the issue was, the employee was able to find my account and let me know that the reason was because of the timing of when I canceled. I canceled 5 days before my new billing month started, but they send the billing through 7 days early on all their accounts to give the banks enough time to process the payment. So they already sent the $10 through for my account, even though technically I didn't owe them that $10, they were just anticipating me owing them that money. Not a huge deal in theory, but as someone who got a degree in pre-law, I think it's just a bad practice. So minus one star for that (even though it's the corporation's policy, not just this location's). Where they really screwed up though is that this employee didn't try to help me out at all. I explained that legally I didn't owe them any money (silly to fight over $37, but it's the principle that counts), but s/he INSISTED that I had to pay and that she couldn't do anything to override it. I had to argue with the employee for a while, and s/he ended up being very rude quickly. So, after about 30 minutes into this phone call I had to demand to talk to the manager. Luckily, the main manager of the location was in at the moment, and after speaking to him for about 20 seconds he easily cleared my account and apologized for the mistake without any fuss. So go him. But I think that first employee I was talking to was acting a little too self-important thinking that s/he had the power over me in that situation. Didn't offer to help me with my account even once and was rude. So minus one star for that. Here's a tip for low-level/entry-level employees in retail or similar positions, if you really can't help me, explain why and offer to talk to your supervisor about the issue, instead of just being rude. I was under the impression that s/he could have helped me, but was choosing not too simply because s/he didn't care. I did not get the impression that s/he actually did not have the ability to help me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All that being said, I'm not against returning to them one day if I feel like going to a gym again. In fact, I will probably try them first before any other gyms if I decide to use a gym again. I hadn't had any issues with my $10/month services with them, other than that one billing issue involving rude customer service.
I love this GYM the workers are awesome plus the equipment is new. Best part is the workers don't bother you like Golds. No contract is best deal you can get anywhere!
great place to work out and i love that i can pay 20 buck a mouth and bring a friend to work out with.
