The Alaska Club South

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE,
The Alaska Club South is okay. If you are considering this place for family use with small children or for swimming lessons, you will notice that there are only 2 family change rooms, where you can actually be with your 4 year old, without having to let him/her be alone in the adult dressing rooms while changing. These two small changing rooms fill out quickly when there are swimming lessons going on. In winter days you either run to get one of them or your child will be freezing withough warming up in a shower unless you let your child walk alone in the adult dressing rooms, with no way to supervise him. As a mom with a boy I find this very inconvenient. These rooms often have mulfunctioning showers and are muddy on the floors. They do not get as much attention as the adult changing rooms, and despite of reporting broken shower heads for months on a row, they still do not repair them. If you have a more convenient pool nearby, avoid the classes at this location.
I regularly go to the south club. The family locker room is horrible. The shower curtains are mold stained, and it always smells bad in there. I noticed they are doing some construction in there due to the "lighting" in the showers. I really hope they do a lot more improving in there than just the lights! Considering I spent about 140/month on the family package, I expected, AT LEAST, cleanliness. Why is the family room SO MUCH worse than the women's room? The pool and hot tub become ridiculously overcrowded during open swim times do to the redistricted sessions of open swim. Then, most lap swims are empty..... whats with that? The front desk staff is nice enough, but they clearly only hire high school/college students who don't give a crud if you've had a pleasant experience or not. The "childcare" is nothing more than a glorified playroom. If you have older kids who can pretty much look after themselves, it's OK, but Forget trying to drop off a two or three year old, as the entire staff in there has NO CLUE on how to handle smaller children. Overall, is WAY overpriced and overrated.
I had recently gotten a membership with my boyfriend and the man who helped us getting our account started was very helpful and would answer all of my questions I had. He let us know the price, how and when we would be billed, the different activites they provided. Also there are a few people at the front desk who are always helpful for me and let me know when things are and will give me informational packets to let me know the times etc. It's a great gym and worth the money we spend here!
the alaska club is stealing about ninety dollars a month from me. first they wouldnt let me out of my contract even though i was deploying because my wife is not deploying. now that the contract is over they are charging me double the cost per month and say that they need written resignation it cant be emailed or faxed then it takes a month after they aknowledge recieving the letter. i have mailed three letters so far my wife is back in washington and the people who work at alaska club are borderlined retarded
