Aire Urban Fitness

Aire is the best gym I've ever been to! The trainers are amazing both in fitness knowledge and personality! I have done both the fitness classes and personal training with Daniel and am a loyal client. You never get bored with the classes because they change every day (but always provide for a killer workout!). The trainers work with you individually and can work with your own individual issues (balance and coordination for me!). This gym is the best I've found in the downtown San Diego area for both value and price - I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I work a couple of blocks down from Aire Urban and I had passed it a million times without even knowing that it was there. Thanks to a Living Social deal, I was finally able to put this gym on my radar. I had heard about TRX from some friends of mine and thought that this was the time to try it out... and I am SoOo glad that I did. The gym is a class-based one and the facility is ridiculously clean (I'm a member at two other places AND I'm a germaphobe so this says a lot). The equipment is modern and the atmosphere is great-Laid back but very "get down to business". I took a class with Daniel Soto and he was awesome; he was super friendly and he doesn't have a "holier than thou" attitude like a lot of instructors/trainers do. I did a 1:1 training with him last week and I was sore for 3 days. It hurt to cough, laugh, sit, walk up stairs, etc. (not many workouts can do this to my body anymore). He works with what you're comfortable with but pushes you at the same time. He asked if I wanted to be sore the next day and after I said, "yes," he delivered! The only down-side to this place is that it's right by where the creepy transients loiter so I'd refrain from taking classes when it's dark out or unless you have a buddy-system going on.
Just moved to SD and wanted to find a fun gym with personal training and Bootcamp style classes. So glad I found this place on Google+. Instructors are awesome and very hands on. I've referred a few friends also love it and thank me for it. Classes are challenging and impossible to not get results if you just keep showing up at class. I highly recommend you sign up! For those of you interested in trying out TRX this is the place.
I found Aire Urban Fitness thanks to an online deal earlier this year. If it wasn't for that deal, I would've never stumbled upon this amazing gym. Super clean, first class service, and ridiculously challenging workouts that are fun and never the same. I have never encountered a gym experience quite like this. The classes are personally designed by the instructors (Daniel, Jen, Keli or Jen) and the workouts vary every single time. If there was ever a gym that catered to a great customer experience, I had yet to find one until now! Many of the group classes I have taken have been with Daniel (Surge/Intro to TRX/Body Blast). The guy is super positive, funny and is an attentive, yet patient motivator. But don't get me wrong, take any of Jen (Surge/TRX) or Keli's (Surge/Bootcamp) classes and trust me, you'll be working it harder than you EVER have before! I live 10 miles away but don't mind one bit driving into downtown in order to get a great workout in. Free validation is provided for the parking garage next door so that's a huge plus for those driving there. So YES, check out Aire Urban Fitness. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. **On a side note... I just completed a personal training with Keli yesterday and boy, was the workout KILLER. She catered the workout towards my goals/needs (core/fat burning) and I ended up getting more than I bargained for. She was great throughout in that she was super personable, yet motivating when it counted most... during those last few *I just wanna die* seconds of sweat-drenching reps.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Aire Urban Fitness! I've been to a lot of gyms downtown and this by far is my favorite. I have to say though that this is not your "normal" gym. This isn't a 24 hour fitness where you go on the elliptical for 30 minutes, nod off, and leave. You come to Aire Urban Fitness with a goal. Whether it be for pilates, personal training, or one of their amazing group classes such as TRX or Whipped, the trainers and owner, Jen Vandersanden, will help you reach the goal that you would like to achieve. Or even if you are not sure of your fitness goals, Jen and the other trainers will point you in the direction that is best suited for you. The facilities are very clean and they have all the equipment that you need. The trainers and pilates instructors are all very helpful and super nice. One of my favorite things about Aire is that there are NO PRETENTIONS! There are many other gyms downtown, where you feel like if you are not wearing the latest Lullulemon clothing or are not already ripped, then you have no business being there. This is not the case here. Aire is very inviting and feels like a family. Not only is Aire a great gym, it also offers several social activities per month. Every month they try to do one big one such as in the past they did a day at the park, where they all went to a baseball game together. All in all, Aire Urban Fitness and its trainers and members are all amazing, committed, and fun! If you are looking to try something new and perhaps find a new social network then you must check out Aire Urban Fitness. P.S. They have a super cute mascot as well. Butch the mini jack russel can always be found there with his owner and general manager of Aire, the man boy, Daniel Soto. P.P.S. Keli Garrett is amazing as well and one of he best motivators in THE world!
