My wife and I were in Santa Barbara celebrating our anniversary and we wanted to workout while we were there. We found Spectrum Uptown to fit our needs perfectly. Plenty of cardio equipment, free weights and exercise machines. The staff was particularly very nice and professional. The gym had a real "get to work" kind of feel to the place and we were both pleased with the choices and the ample amount of room. My only complaint would be that the clientele did not wipe down their machines nor re-rack their weights when they were done, but this is probably a problem at any gym. Don't get bamboozled into paying for an extra 2 months when you want to cancel your membership. Their threat to send you to collections is only to intimidate you it has no merit. You are not obligated to continue paying once you cancel your month to month contract, that's absurd. You don't have to go in and sign anything and if they call you just hang up at some point they will find someone else to hate. Simply ask your bank or credit card company to block them from future charges so you don't have to update your card or bank account #. I disputed the last 6 months charges with American Express and was issued a full credit in a few weeks. Don't let them push you around it's just a gym. - club member since 2001

I've been a member for over 20 years. The gym opened late twice this week. I wasn't too happy since I have to be to work @ 7: 00 so only got to work out 15 minutes. When the machines break down it sometimes takes weeks to fix them. Many of the tv's don't work properly. If you decide to quit the gym--say today--you will still get charged for 2 months from today's date. You need to give 2 month's notice. One day last year we all had to sign something before we worked out...no one told us what we were signing. That was agreeing to pay 2 months more if you quit without notice. Dissapointed and probably won't stay there much longer.

Great gym, awesome day care for little kids. My daughter doesn't ever want to leave.,
