Gold's Gym

I am not a confrontational person, but I feel that is is neccesary to share my experience. I signed up, even though it was expensive, it is a beautiful gym. However, during my one "complimentary" session I was pushed into signing up for PT. I explained that I could not afford this, so the trainer convinced me to have a once a month meeting to go over a nutritional plan for the month. I was charged for this "complimentary" meeting, and NEVER contacted again. I have two jobs and go to school full-time, needless to say, time got away from me. Once I realized that I was not receiving these services. Like i said, I'm not confrontational, so I just stopped going. I finally decided to cancel the gym which had fees which is normal. and I explained to the lady that I signed up for this training but the guy ( i won't say his name), never contacted me. I was told he was fired and hasn't been with the company for awhile.Which BTW, is a breach in confidentiality.Fast track to this month, I find out he literally just stopped being employed there. So this whole time he should have been doing his job. Anyways, I decided to just be DONE, and cancel it. I was told I would no longer be charged for the membership OR the personal training. But because I signed a contract, there was nothing they can do.. So I just paid 5 months for a service.. THAT I NEVER RECEIVED. They could careless. I was pretty upset, but I blame myself for being talk into this ridiculous "personal training". However, I look in my account today, to see that I have once again been charged for the personal training....THAT I STILL HAVE NEVER RECEIVED. So I go through a couple of people, who could not give one shit, and they tell me that I have to have a written confirmation to cancel the Personal training...are you kidding me. This is about the third time I have had to call these people, I even wrote an email to explain I wanted out. But they don't care, they don't know how to do their jobs evidently. I was charged...even though I no longer have a membership. What a joke. I finally get to speak to the manager, who basically makes it out to be my fault. And that its "irrelevant" because I am bringing it up to attention now. The fact is that your personal trainers are not doing their jobs, and convince people to sign up for a service that is never given to them. It's FRAUD! The fact that they do not care, and barely can even say "sorry" is concerning. They couldn't just say " you know what, I am sorry, this should never have happened and I will make sure this doesn't happen again" but no, I get told that my issue is IRRELEVANT. I asked for an email to be sent to me that I would no longer be charged for the "personal training" training that I have still not yet received. He was gracious enough to send me this email, although I shouldn't have to feel like i need evidence after being charged once again. So the moral of this story is: don't get talked into personal training from this gym. Its impossible to cancel, and the employees could care less. And why should they? I am sure they hate their jobs. I have never been treated so badly in my life. I still can't believe that I paid close to $300 dollars for a service I have NEVER received. Anyways, reported this to the BBB and I suggest this to everyone who has been getting the run around as well. Maybe, just maybe, something will be done!
I placed my account on hold during the winter due to my schedule. They promised to charge me $12 per month during the hold. I check back 3 months later and they acknowledge the hold but continued to call me everyday stating I owed hundreds. I actually had to sue Oxnard golds because they would not close my account. Bad business practice and management.
I have been a member for going on Ten years now and recently found out that Golds of T.O were signing up new people for a much better deal than i got almost a deacade ago. So i went in to talk with a salesperson and in a nice and professional way was told they could not match the deal that i was told about. He didn't deny that deal was made he just told me he could not do the same for me. So rather then go from what i was paying to a lower amount they went from what i was paying to zero. Can someone please tell me how that makes any sense. The new person didn't have to sign a contract so the odds on that person staying at the gym for many years is doubtful, but they have no problem letting go of someones buisness who has been paying them for 10 years, and who will now pay a new gym. Great buisness plan Golds!!!
Great gym, friendly staff, excellent trainers. Very nicely appointed, towel service, cardio cinema. I go there several times a week at different times of the day and have always been happy with the gym. Changed from 24 hour fitness where they would only fix equipment once a threshold of broken equipment was reached. Gold's fixes equipment as soon as it breaks. Been there for two years and will renew for another two. Rob Godwin is my trainer, very knowledgeable and motivates you to succeed.
They totally lied to us! We bought two 3 year memberships back in 2011 with a verbal that we would be able to renew for $199 a year for a life time. Today is when the renewal was due....they said they would no longer honor that verbal agreement. They are a bait a switch company. Try Spectrum...we are!
