24 Hour Fitness
Reviews
Ive been a member of several gyms throughout palm beach and broward county. This is the nicest 24 hour gym. Pretty decent equipment, weights are where they should be 90% of the time. Dumbbells stop at 120lbs. from 90 lbs and up there are only 1 set of dumbbells. This is only really a problem at peak hours. Plenty of Cardio equipment and lockers. My main issue with this place is that some, definitely not all, but some of the staff members are incredibly disrespectful, definitely not a family owned and operated gym by any means. membership is close to double what it should be in my opinion considering it is pretty crowded and doesn't have anything other gyms in the area don't have (besides the hours). If you workout during the day and don't need a 24 hour gym, there are better gyms in Boynton. I cant speak for the classes as I strictly use this place for weight training. Good luck.
Whoever said the gym is in an unsafe area is obviously an employee or shill for a competitor. The gym is located right in the middle of Boynton's "restaurant row" and is about the safest area in the city. As a years-long member, however, I am always disappointed that the sound hookups on many of the bikes/treadmills do not work and never seem to get repaired. Also, the steam room seems to be a particular challenge for the gym to keep working
They lacked machines I needed. Managers _never_ available. They give you a phone number to cancel that never works. This number is a closely held secret apparently because you must wait 25 minutes after your 3rd visit to be able to even find out there is a phone number to cancel with. That 25 minutes was waiting for the ONLY person on shift to get off their cellphone in the break room when they are supposed to be at the front desk. A trainer accidentally brought me back there to find her chatting with her boyfriend. Great service. I tried so many times to cancel following their instructions. I came in at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm. All on their instructions to "catch a manager". This person magically was never there when I was wanting to cancel. 12 months have passed at $42/month and not having the time or energy to do anything about it they will rob your wallet and demand WRITTEN proof that you called their phone numbers constantly and visited their locations countless times asking to be cancelled. Nice. Good luck canceling if you do still decide to sign up. You might want to lawyer up before you decide to cancel.
100% Honest Review: First, the staff at this gym is amazing and very helpful with whatever you need. If someone writes a negative review on the staff then they are the one with the problem! As far as the gym equipment goes, yes the machines do break down from time to time and stay down for a while but that is really no different from any other gym that you will find in palm beach county. A big improvement that can be done at this gym is machine hygiene. The machines / equipment can be pretty dirty.... well extremely dirty.. but on the positive side - they do offer that alcohol purell disinfectant so it kind of makes up for the dirtiness. So far I have been going to this gym for a couple of years. I would not say that this gym is the best one I've come across but it is by far the best gym I found in palm beach county. The only other negative thing I can say about this gym is that it does get packed with people around the 5-7:30 time frame. If you decide to go to the gym during the peak time then good luck finding a machine or getting the work out in that you wanted - Mission Impossible. I will continue going to this gym until something better comes along and although it may have some problems, there are not enough issues for me to switch to another gym.
I have been a member since this gym opened. I have watched and experienced the total deterioration of the facility, staff and managers... The equipment and bathrooms are a disgrace... The bicycles in the spin room are in constant need of adjustment and repair.. Many times the air conditioning isn't working in the spin room.. All the good instructors and trainers have left (with the exception of Barry) The managers are constantly being transferred to other gyms, and somehow this club seems to get the left overs..It has been straight downhill!!! The present manager is really the most inefficient yet. If you complain about broken equipment they say it is the responsibility of the instructor.. I personally stayed after one spin class and went around with the instructor checking each bike so that he could write it down in his log book and present to the manager.. ( this was the managers instructions, when I told him there were alot of bikes that needed repairs) Somehow I don't think that should be the members responsibility.., nor the teacher who is paid for teaching one hour class. There should be regular maintenance on all equipment especially the bicycles in the spin room.. That could be very dangerous.. I almost had a serious accident myself.. Luckily I was suspicious that the pedal might be loose and checked it before jumping on the bike as on e normally does. The pedal came off in my hand...COULD HAVE A LAWSUIT... then there is the issue of the air conditioning. There have been countless times of no air conditioning in the spin room....try complaining and see how long it takes for something to be fixed,,,,!!! I have visited other 24 hr fitness centers and they were wonderful...Its a shame to watch this one get continually worse.
