Jane's Gym Fitness For Women
Reviews
So today, January 21, I went to work out and apparently the OWNER did not like my review. He confronted me in the gym. I had not even been on the machine 5 minutes. He said I had Chelsea to contact you about your review, and I said yeah I know. He said why would you write that? Are you just made about the final payment you had to make and you decide to write me a bad review? I told him it is not about the last payment. It has been 24 months of build up. I told him when I told him about my initial conversation with Chelsea and my daughter coming to the gym she told me it was fine. I said this was before I even joined the gym. After I joined then there was a problem. I asked that they refund my money and cancel my contract if it was a problem before. Tonight he said I have bent over backwards for you and you write this. I am a bit hurt. What if I told you your daughter had to leave tonight??I said ok that's fine. I found another gym anyway, My membership ends Feb 15th. He continued to give me attitude. I got up to go to leave. When I got to my daughter she said that man asked me where you were. I said lets go. Then he offered to pay my last payment. I told him that payment is done. I already paid. I was just so bothered by the situation. How are you as a owner going to confront the guest about their review. The last time I checked this was a FREE country!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him I told my truth. I spoke about how your gym made me feel. He kept cutting me off. I was livid. I called back and I said I want a refund because I no longer feel comfortable coming to this gym. I said I need a refund or I will contact a attorney for harassment. The girl named JESSIE said you can contact a attorney and then she went on to tell me that the owner did not harass me. I told her she was not over there when we were talking. She has nothing to do with this. I would just like my money back then effective immediately I will not return to this gym EVER!!! I have been in management for several years, and I could NEVER do what this guy did tonight. It is disrespectful to confront a guest about their opinion. The review is there for a reason. It is there for you to fix the problem. If you are not going to fix don't complain like a baby when someone says something about it. This is how you loose customers REAL quick. I would not invite my DOG to got to this gym. I spoke to several people at work about joining, but I will definitely tell them to look somewhere else. I am deeply offended. They are better off going to DAC or ATC. I did not have a great experience at all. I have a 10 yr old child that I wanted to use daycare for. I was not told that all of the kids a re infants. I tried to remove the daycare off of my membership and they refused. I also was harrassed constantly about her being in a seat in the gym. She was always on her tablet or something. She never moved. I told them I had spoke with the manager already and he ok it. There was never anything in the notes apparently. I just left the gym. Now my membership expires, I was told Jan 19, 2015, and the rep said my payments are done. Then I call back just to make sure that was the case, and they say you have another payment. I am supposed to pay 29.90 for 4 days. So they extended it a month out. I told them that they charge for everything. I have 4 enhancement fees of $14. I was not told, until I called to check on canceling, that I need to write a letter and mail it to Utah to cancel my membership. It also had to be 30 days prior to cancellation. If not they would automatically renew my membership. I think that this gym is not worth the time and money. I am going to another gym.
The few times I have been, the place was so overcrowded that people were waiting for long periods of times for machines to exercise and classes were too full. I've been told that when I've been there it's the busiest time of the day and maybe I should come back at a different time like at 5 am. If I could come at different times, I would. I signed up in January and was told when I asked that if I didn't like it or if the gym didn't meet my needs that I could cancel by sending something in writing to the address on the form. I was never told that it could not be canceled under any circumstances until I wrote to and spoke with National Fitness. I would have never signed a contract that did not have a cancellation clause and asked specifically about canceling when I signed up. Either the employees of the gym don't know that there is no canceling or just straight up lie and deceive when signing people up. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but based on other reviews, I'm guessing it's the latter. Needless to say, I'm not happy with the gym either.
I suspect that all the excellent reviews are coming from owners/staff members. I have used this facility only a few times during my 2-year contract. The contrast will end in November. This facility does not meet my needs for what motivates me to workout. I am not drawn to or get excited about my next visit as I do the gym that I attend now. You know it is serious when I pay to go to another gym with no contract. This membership is totally wasted. In addition to monthly membership fees, they charge you enhancement fees twice a year. I was informed that there was no way to cancel my membership even for a fee. My membership would automatically renew in November. If I did not want it to automatically renew, I would have to 'WRITE & MAIL A LETTER" (not email, fax, text or call) to the the national office 30 days prior to November's cancellation date, in order to stop the automatic renewal. What a rip-off this place has been. DO NOT ACCEPT any SPECIAL promotions, it is not worth it.
After being away from the gym for over 7 years, I found Jane's Gym to be the perfect place to get back in shape! I love the convenient location, the 24-hour access, the clean and attractive facilities, the ladies who train there, the absence of men which would make me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable, and - most importantly - the wonderful variety of classes and trainers! All of the staff made an effort to make me feel welcome. They learned my name and greet me daily. They encourage and support me. They helped me remember my own value and rediscover my own strength. Most days are great, but when I have a workout that leaves me feeling discouraged, there's always someone, be it staff or the other ladies, to help me remember how far I've come and how awesome it will be when I get where I'm going. Whether you're old and out of shape or young and fit or anything in between, you will very quickly become comfortable at Jane's. And no work-out is complete for me without the relaxation of a HydroMassage! *Note in response to other reviews: I was well-informed of the two-year contract and took the moment to ask the stipulations for release from the contract. The terms are not uncommon for most gyms of this quality. You get what you pay for (though the rates are VERY reasonable) and the financial commitment helps me remain committed to my improving healthy lifestyle.
I haven't been to the gym in several months, as I have four small children and it is across town. I recently called to cancel my membership and was referred to the number on the card. When I called the number on the card, the gentlemen on the other end told me that I had a TWO YEAR contract and that there was nothing he could do for me on his end. I asked him if I called the gym, if they could cancel it. He kept repeating "I can't confirm that". I have no recollection of ever being told about a 2 year contract. I never would have signed up for that, since our plan was only to be here short term, having recently moved from Seattle. I called the gym, and the lady who answered the phone told me that she is "always" clear about the 2 year contract when signing new members. Unfortunately, it was her father who showed me around and signed me up. So I just feel stuck. . . . We live on one income with four children and my husband is also a fulltime student. I am enormously disappointed that I am stuck with this membership that is going unused.
