Lindsay Young Downtown YMCA

Do Mrs lindsey work there. If you do tell her I said hey OK.
Not too shabby...
I love the downtown Y. The staff there are the best around, and they offer a full range of group classes all through the day. (Other gyms I tried only offered classes for an hour or two after 5pm, which doesn't fit my schedule). The building is historic so the different areas are spread out on several levels, but personally I like it. It isn't just another warehouse-like gym where everyone is crammed into the same space. I also like that they don't make you do a membership contract there, and they are non-profit so they do scholarships and stuff for people who need a little help.
If you're downtown the location can't be beat, and the towel service offered there is a great convenience, but I was unimpressed with the general equipment maintenance (especially the treadmills, I would try on average of 3 before I found one that didn't have belt problems) and during my 1 month trial membership in early 2012 the ladies locker room had a bad water leak and subsequent mold problem that was not addressed at all during the month I was there as far as I could tell. They hung a sign that said "we know we have this issue" but I didn't see (or smell) any progress in a month, so I don't think I'll renew a membership there due to those two significant items. The Rush on Chapman has spoiled me with their upkeep of the place and open all hours all week is nice. I just wish I didn't have to drive there!
