Well I went through and read all these bad reviews.. first most gyms are contract scams it's just what they do unless it's a cheap $15 a month small gym. Know this, when I signed up I wasn't even told how long my contract is for and I still don't really know lol. However I go 4-5 days a week for the foreseeable future so whatevs. Ok good stuff first, then some bad. A lot of previous complaints were about cleanliness. I see cleaning guys around all the time now. Some days I see at least 3ish people going around cleaning machines ect. I've seen them fix lights, wipe down machines, check on bathrooms ect. So maybe this problem has been addressed? I like the feel of the gym, a lot of cops workout there so I definitely enjoy the atmosphere, it's much better then the fratty stuck up meat head atmosphere you get at the Rush. Unless that's your thing of course, then more power to you. Nice people, the staff I've enjoyed too, the guy that signed me up still knows my name and we chat here and there. Big nice facilities, if one section is a little crowded there are a few areas to workout at. I missed my free trainer appointment because I don't want or need it presently, and thankfully they have not harassed me about signing up for more blah blah blah. I'm already paying enough and I'm a broke college kid without a blank mommy and daddy check, I don't want and couldn't afford a trainer and they haven't pressured me into it so that's nice. Ok for the annoying.. one it's by far the most expensive gym in Knoxville. I work for a state funded and ran school, yet corporate denied my discount.. they said I don't work for the State which is absurd because I absolutely do (a co-worker of mine DOES get the discount at the Rush). At some point I may yell at corporate about it but meh it's just $10 less they are denying me. I heard before the climbing room is only for trainers and you, if that's the case that's just stupid. Basically it's a good place, a little pricey and yeah read the fine details in the contract if you care about that. I'd say it has improved since some of the late reviews, especially as far as the cleaning and maintenance staffing goes.

I did not join this gym, I only went to enroll my child in swim lessons. First they charged me the wrong amount for swim lessons- they charged my card for a private lesson $140 when I was supposed to be charged $65 (I was sharing a semi-private swim lesson with a friend and her child). When I was given the receipt to sign at the desk, I noticed it was for $140 and asked that they cancel the transaction and charge me the correct amount. Their first response was to tell me to just have my friend pay me the $65 and just be out $10. When I told them I would not be doing this for their mistake, they went to talk to the manager and he gave them a card to give to me with the member services number on it because they do not do refunds at that location and they instructed me to call this number to refund my $140 back. I called while I was there and they instructed the manager to refund my $140. He never apologized or even said hello to me when he came out of his office to show them how to give a refund. I then stupidly payed the $65 for the semi-private lesson and was told that I would be able to schedule a lesson at a specific time and date that I had requested. When the instructor called me, she informed me that she was not available during those times and that she didnt know if anyone would be able to give lessons at that time. 4 days later, and I have still not received my $140 refund into my bank account. I called to speak to a manager about the inability to have lessons and the $140 and he never called back. I called back later that night and was informed that he had gone home for the evening. wow. Do not go here for swim lessons. Even if you aren't becoming a member, they can still scam you and give you the worst customer service possible.

CONTRACT SCAM!!! these ppl screw you at every turn. i have been a member for 3 years and just cant wait for my contract to end this month...ohhh wait! they even screw you one more time when your contract ends...they bumped me up 30$ more a month without telling me and then when i put in for it to be cancelled they say you have to pay one MORE month! the management is horrid and customer service you get is only when you first walk in and the say "hello"....ask for ANYTHING and you will get lost through the hoops they make you jump to get ANY answers. Place is a dump and dirty...anyone EVER see them clean...anyone...anyone? search around there are many more nicer and cheaper places to go...

Five stars all the way. They have everything I need to work out and relax. Very clean and the people are pleasant and polite.

Must provide two forms with proof of move to cancel contract. They take out extra money once a year for "gym improvements" and then "have no control over" when it is taken out and can not help if you can't pay it. Oh, also they don't tell you WHEN it's coming out. SURPRIIIISE!!!
