Tried multiple times to cancel membership, but they continue to try to charge my account. In May, my trainer left Gold's Gym, so I decided to cancel my membership. At the local gym, they told me I had to call corporate to cancel. I called and notified them that I wanted to cancel. They told me that I still had to pay for June since it was less than 30 days. I said that was fine, but I wanted to cancel. I got charged in June and called to confirm that my membership would be cancelled. They said they never received a written notification of my desire to cancel. I immediately sent it again, after telling them that I was not informed of this policy during my first call. I had changed card numbers, but somehow they got the new number. They charged my account in July, and I called asking them to refund the charge because they were not authorized to charge that card and also my membership had cancelled. They refused and were very rude, so I filed a dispute with my bank. They didn't charge me in August, so I thought the issue was resolved. Then another charge appeared in September. I went in to the local location and asked to speak with someone, because calling corporate clearly was not working. They took my information and said the person I needed to speak with wasn't there at that time and I would receive a call back. I never received a call from anyone at the gym. I filed a dispute on the September charge, and then again when another charge appeared in October. Multiple written notices were sent to both corporate and the local gym instructing them to stop charging my account. After a charge appeared again in November, my bank recommended that we close that checking account entirely and switch over to another account. I placed blocks on both check cards and we transferred everything to a new account. I received a letter in the mail in December and again in January from Gold's Gym stating that they had AGAIN tried to charge my account, and that this time they were unable to debit the charge. The amounts on the letters are not what was ever authorized for my fee, and it doesn't add. This gym has horrible business practices, classes taught by people who teach out of a binder not from knowledge, bad music, and judgmental gym rats.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Do NOT give them your credit card information. They will charge you for BOGUS charges and THEY CLAIM there is not a way to refund them. They claim they don't have control over their billing, it's done through another company. Which is their language for, "Sorry, your screwed, You were stupid enough to give us your credit card information." It's a bad gym anyways, old equipment, old big bulky TVs, and dirty childcare.
They wont let you cancell, even if you dont have a long term contract. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!
