24 Hour Fitness

I hate this gym. I've been a member of 24hr off and on (I move a lot) for 12 years. I've been to a dozen or more of their gyms. This one is the worst. Lots of wasted space, limited gym equipment and unhelpful staff. The manager is ironically is the exception but don't bother talking to the trainers if 3 of the 6 olympic bars walk off from the free weight section. They have tons of un used floor space so people can move freely but for the love of god you don't need 5' between benches. They need to add about 3 more benches preferably the ones that change from flat to shoulder press. They need more squat racks 2 in the gym one in the PT area not readily available. Equipment is old and in regular need of repair. They have big ass TRX area only trainers and their clients usually 1 at a time use taking up the front of the building. worthless POS people use their own body weight and bands on. I guess pushups and pullups require a suspension bridge now. Dumbbells only go up to 120lbs and one of the 120's has been broke for over a month. There is only 1 cable station in this huge facility where i have seen 2 or 3 in gym's half the size. there newest section of equipment are these funky machines that gyrate your whole body I feel don't concentrate on the muscles you are trying to focus on. WORTHLESS. I rarely see anybody on these except elderly. Last but not least of my gripes THE PARKING!!! They are at max capacity in the parking lot and in the gym so even if they did bring in more equipment to support their swelling numbers of people standing around waiting for equipment it wouldn't matter because the only thing limiting people from accessing the gym is the fact that the parking lot has less room than the building itself. People are forced to park at taco bell in the adjacent parking lot or across the busy highway or circle the parking lot like vultures waiting for the next person to pull out where they sit blocking access to other trying to leave for fear of missing the next opportunity to park. IT SUCKS!!!
Have been spinning here for 5 months. As far as decent equipment goes the spin cycles are "ok". The maintenance of the cycles are dismal and hence; so will your workout be: dismal. How can it be so hard to keep these in rideable shape where it doesn't take 15 - 20 minutes to find one that works and get it set up appropriately. Every cycle should have a card and a pen attached, ie, handlebars are shaky or immoveable, increased resistance yields intolerable skreeching, straps broken. Every rider should leave comments about what is not working and 24 Hour Fitness should have a 1x or 2x weekly maintenance scheduled. I also sympathize with the instructors who fight with faulty sound system and mic's that do not work. If I'm supposed to be responsible for my health and I pay a fee for a place to do so then shouldn't they also be accountable and responsible for simple upkeep and maintenance.
Great fitness classes and instructors and nice upgrade recently! Lots of new equipment: both cardio and weight machines! Just so-so cleanliness and entertainment options upstairs. hard to find nbc:-(
I have been to a lot of 24-hour Fitness', and this is one of the nicer ones. I think that they recently updated it, because a lot of the reviews that were posted more than 6 months ago are very negative. I just moved to the area and don't have experience with this gym that far back, but from what I see now, it's a very nice gym. I usually go around noon or 5 and it's usually pretty busy. Regardless, I really like the high ceilings and the open layout. I like that the cardio is on the second floor and that there is a lot of space for machines and weights. The pool and sauna are nice as well. No complaints here.
DO NOT use 24 Hour Fitness, and do NOT use their Woodlands location! This letter is one I sent to them in regards to excessive charges due to memberships with their company. ------- I recently noticed an excessive number of charges on my account and relayed my concerns to membership coordinators at my club. On December 26, I approached one of the membership coordinators at my club and requested that the family add-on account of Gisela be removed/cancelled and to add Victoria and to make sure that my card is NOT charged again for the account being cancelled. Apparently, this did not happen even though I was told by your staff that it did. Since then, I have been charged a total of $97.38. This is $97.38 that should NOT have been charged. I was told by my club that, in essence, “it’s my fault the account wasn’t cancelled correctly and I should have said something sooner” and that she would not refund this amount. That is absurd. To make something the “customer’s fault” is very poor customer service and not conducive to quality customer service practices. I did my part in this. I made the request and your employee should have canceled the account correctly. There is no way that I can be at fault for that. And, of course, I didn’t speak up earlier… it takes time to see trends and I do not use this credit card often, so I do not review it often. Whether I review this card’s activity does not make something my fault. If I do my part, then your staff is under a responsibility to do theirs. Based on this I have cancelled my membership with 24 Hour Fitness. Based on your employee’s mistake I have had to pay an extra $97.38 out of money that I work for. And since I have cancelled my membership, you have lost a paying customer who will never come back to your gym. You are now losing a membership and family add-on valued at $61.68 each month based on your employee’s mistake. I have always enjoyed working out at this gym location and had no plans to stop or discontinue my membership. Given the situation, I am happy to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. I hope the value of protecting your employee’s mistake is greater than the long-term amount you would have gained by my continuing membership. I will actively seek membership elsewhere, give my earned dollars to them, and I will never again be a customer of 24 Hour Fitness.
