The Girl Spot

The Girl Spot is awesome! I began taking classes there shortly after they opened in March 2010. I’ve completed Basics and Level 1 and now I am three weeks into Level 2. In just 6 months you should see the things we can all do! It’s empowering and exhilarating. The studio is clean and inviting and the owners and instructors are encouraging and they make you feel good about being there. Plus, what a GREAT WORKOUT! I have a degree in Exercise Science and I’ve been a certified fitness trainer and instructor for 15 years (I know how to workout). This is not only a great workout but it is progressive in it’s intensity and there is always great emphasis put on properly warming up, stretching, conditioning, and executing the tricks with safe and proper form. I love Pole Dancing for Fitness and you should defiantly come check out a class!
This place is great. The teachers and the folks that run it are teriffic people and offer excellent instruction. My wife has been taking classes there for several months specifically for the fitness aspect and you wouldn't believe the changes in both her body and her self-confidence. PLEASE NOTE - The two negative reviews that have been written about The Girl Spot are by people that have never stepped foot in the studio.
By far the most professional studio! Everyone is so kind, and makes you feel welcome. The instructors have PASSION, and are ACTUAL POLE PERFORMERS, they will take their time to help you achieve the skills you are working on. They start from the very basics of how to walk with sass and suduction, and advance you through a fantastic program, that you will never be bored with! As more girls get to the advance level, those classes will be offered too, so ladies will never run out of stuff to learn. The method taught is effective pole DANCE and art of expressing, not just "tricks" that can be lifeless and redundent. Whoever wrote the poor reviews has CLEARLY never been to The Girl Spot, and are obviously just immature, and acting like that will not get you anywhere. (especially since the Girl Spot is GIRLS ONLY so "steve" has clearly never set foot in the door!)
I have Been to every studio in CT and one of the bigest ones in New York, the Girl Spot is the best. The space is great, and they have the most poles out of all the places i have been. the instructors are amazing. not only are they great on the pole , but the way they teach is perfect. the classes move at a great pace. Fast enough to keep the more addvanced students on there toes, but NOT to fast that the newbies feel left behind. The GirlSpot is the perfect combination of sensual pole dancing, and pole tricks. They really hit the nail on the head . You always feel welcome, and i have a hard time leaving. I recomend The Girl Spot to everybody. You will feel amazing about yourself when you leave. Trust me
I came across the negative reviews here, and just had to talk about my experience with The Girl Spot. (it is REAL experience, by the way, which in my opinion the negative reviews seem not to be) I have been to 2 of the 3 pole studios in CT, as well as having tried one of the best-known studios in NYC. Here is what I have to say -- the first place I went to, the instructors were not skilled enough to advance me beyond basic spins. the second place, they were expensive and rude. in NY, though the instructor was lovely, she was very detached, and it felt like she was just running the class to get a paycheck. in desparation, my friend and i tried just self-teaching at her place after she bought and installed a proper pole. that went well for a while, but it was just not enough to really learn correctly. in march of 2010 The Girl Spot opened. i was very skeptical, after having been so disappointed with what was out there already, but i went to the grand opening anyway, waiting to see just another bunch of BS. holy crap ! the studio itself is very nice - not at all cheesy. just kind of low key comfortable and classy. but the biggest surprise was the pole demonstration they put on. danielle, the instructor, blew me away ! i signed up for an intro class before i left, because i couldn't wait to start learning from her. and even though i'd had some classes already, i wanted to start with a clean slate. i have been at the girl spot since then, and have just worked my way up to level 2. i can't say enough about how committed the girl spot staff and owners are to their students in terms of safety, fun, caring and value for the money. (their prices are actually better than anybody elses). the whole atmosphere there is very encouraging and friendly. women of all shapes and sizes come to take the classes, and most of us stick around to keep advancing. not only that, they also bring in well-know professionals in the industry for special workshops so we can learn even more. i have not seen ANY other places doing that. Two of their 3 instructors have been selector for a special public pole performance in NYC for the American Pole Fitness Association. These people know what they are doing. i am just so very happy they chose to open their studio !! highly recommend for anybody looking to try pole !!!
