Fitness for $10 - Brandon

It's "okay". I've been working out for 20 years and know gym's very WELL. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and at $10 month I guess you can't expect more here than what you get. It's not that it's bad, but its just not that good. If you are not that consistent go here. If you are new to a program and don't know much yet go here. If this is the closest to your home and you don't want to drive any further...go here. But once you get to being a veteran, you train 4+ days/week, and/or your knowledge grows you're going to want more variety, better equipment, a better atmosphere, and all the things that go with a place you frequent regularly. I met the GM here and he seems nice, the rest of the staff seems nice too. My favorite is the Latin lady that works the front desk in the morning, she is always smiling and cheerful. The hall way stinks a little even with the air freshener they have in it. They have good locker rooms. The place seems like it was decorated by a dude that was a bodybuilder in the 80's and can't let the past go. Like I mentioned earlier, the place is...."ok".
The hours for the $10/month are what my daughter and I need...early AM through late evening. I also love that we can be on the same membership. I belonged to a competitor's gym since the 90's, and this is half the price. It might not be a large or as fancy, but for those who want to work out and stay in shape it's a great gym. And they just remodeled...very nice!
Pros: It's a measly ten bucks a month. Cons: It's overpriced. Most of the Olympic bars are dangerously bent. When I mentioned it to the owner's brother, he told me I was using too much weight. I've watched club staff (not a trainer) hang out within ten feet of over 200lbs of plates on the floor and leave it untouched. I've observed staff organizing the weights and equipment exactly once in the last few years; if you need a plate, be prepared to dig for it. Members don't strip their equipment, and neither does staff. I've watched trainers accost members in the middle of their workouts outside of the few hundred square feet of area that the trainers can kick you out of any time they choose. On sunny days during the summer, the heat in the south side of the gym is almost unbearable. The dumbell area is ten feet smaller than it used to be. The dumbells are also smaller than they used to be(100lbs max), and have a deteriorating rubber coating that's leaving black marks all over me. The attachments are all mismatched, and so are the hooks that hold them to the cable. I can't tell you how many times I've had to change my workout because I couldn't find matching handles. The 2 squat racks are pretty consistently occupied by people not doing squats.
I've been going here for about two years now. Never had any bad experiences here. $20 a month is worth it especially for the 24 hour access. Only small complaint i have is some members allowing non members in after business hours but that rarely happens and when it does they usually dont cause a ruckus.
Been using this gym for about 2 years now and its definitely one of the best in Tampa and the best one in Brandon FL. The two sides of the gym help keep people spaced out enough not to feel like your all over the next person. So many machines to pick from and its a surly a big gym. Friendly staff and great hours being that its a 24h gym. Keep it up!!!!
