Saw Mill Club
Reviews
The club is expensive although all the equipment is top of the line. The locker rooms at "east" constantly need attention and the staff never re-racks weight for those of us that don't bench 300lbs. Tennis courts are clean and bright however the brand new courts they just had put in there have all delaminated from the sub floor but they are still playable. The instruction there is mediocre for what you pay for, I can beat most of the pros there and i'm 55 years old!. The pros there, with a few exceptions, are just human ball machines. There are better kids programs around despite what they tell you about the "EDGE" program. Aquatics are very bad. You pay a lot of money and they close to pool facilities constantly for swim teams or water aerobics or some other nonsense and they seem to never have the chlorine balance correct, your are either choking on chlorine gas or swimming in warm bath water. They don't even leave a 1 lap lane open for lap swimmers! Very frustrating and complaints fall on deaf ears at both east and west! We have been a member there for 15 years because we have learned to lower our expectations and it is convenient. We have taken our children out of the tennis program to another club with a more serious concentration on tennis.
I have been a member of the Saw Mill Club on and off throughout the years. Managements passion for health and fitness shows in the hiring and training of the best group exercise instructors in the area. I am especially fond of the yoga program. Unlike other "gym" yoga class experiences, the Saw Mill Club makes you feel as though you are in a real yoga studio by paying attention to every detail including temperature, lighting, and music. My 6 year old son has utilized both the aquatics and tennis programs and has received better and more advanced instruction than many of his peers who participate in similar programs. The staff is attentive and helpful and the club is always spotless. It is by far the superior choice in the area to reach your fitness goals.
I have been a member of Saw Mill Club for many years. My main areas of interest are tennis and the cardio/weight training area. First let me talk about tennis. There are 13 tennis courts and all are meticulously maintained. The courts are resurfaced on a regular basis and any wear is promptly repaired. The tennis staff is incredible. The tennis professionals are not only superb players but are also excellent teachers. They have elevated my game and continue to do so, often offering constructive advice even when I am playing on another court. The tennis teaching pro’s at Saw Mill Club have made my daughter a competitive high school varsity tennis player in just a few short years, at the same time making each lesson fun as well as instructional. The cardio and weight training area has brand new, state of the art equipment, as well as a full complement of free weights. The fitness staff are friendly and always ready to help. The weight machines are excellently maintained. The free weights always racked and ready. And the wide variety of cardio equipment will satisfy all cross training desires. The Saw Mill Club staff is always friendly. This club is my home away from home and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a family friendly health and fitness club.
over priced like crazy. You pay a lot each month and then your not even granted access to the facilities they claim you can use like b-ball courts, pool, and racketball courts. Even worse the place discourages heavy weight lifting as it's littered with all old people.
Its such a great place! The more you do there, the more you will find! It starts with the front desk - Maritsa, add Tennis - Carol Levine, and Training - Sal Arnold. All very welcoming, very professional, and even more important, very personable. Carol got me back into Tennis after 25 years! And Sal keeps you on the right path. Its a no brainer investment in your health (and fun). Credit goes to Kevin Kane for putting it all together.
