Club Fit Jefferson Valley

After being a member for over ten years, we finally had to quit because of the summer camp. Club Fit is an expensive club, but it has good features. While we see some complaints about the staff here, we generally found them to be helpful and courteous. However, the company is greedy with the summer camp. For nearly three months, you lose access to virtually every amenity including the pool, various courts and gym areas. The locker rooms are often filled with unsupervised kids that are loud and foul-mouthed. You lose parking because the block off the entire back area (they have motorcycle parking, but close it in the summer- which happens to be the ONLY time that people ride motorcycles. The irony shouldn't be lost there.) When it rains, they bring every camper inside. Since members and campers can't commingle, and campers get priority, the members, who pay $160 per month for 12 months a year, get bumped out of everything. The last straw was taking my young son in to shoot hoops and being evicted from the court. We then attempted to play racquetball, but those were completely occupied by camp kids. Since my son was only nine, he wasn't allowed in the exercise room so we literally weren't allowed to be anywhere except the lobby and had to leave. Basically, my son, a member, was forced to leave because priority was given to the one-week campers. When I quit, I was told by the membership manager that "people really like to have a place to bring their children." When I attempted to explain that I was subsidizing those people because I was giving up services while paying the same price, she was unable to grasp the concept. Ultimately it came down to Club Fit overreaching for money at the cost of their members. I brought in several new members over the years, but three of them have since left as well. It's unfortunate because it could be a really nice club if they gave the members the same courtesies as the summer campers..
Joined as family because kids program seemed great. After first visit staff chatted with each other barely engaging any of the kids. Tried to speak to manager of kids program in polite way - pretty much made excuses and blew me off. Dropped membership and joined nysc without kids and saved $150 a month. Too bad, because the kids program could be great with the facilities they have if they made expectations higher for staff.
Heavily advertised as concerned, caring and competent staff. Have not found that to be true at all. Once they sign you up, they forget about you, even in programs that require followup. Very disappointed!
