LOVE this gym in D-town. Cheap, convenient, 24hrs, nice staff and brand new equipment. All the cardio you could want, weight machines. Perfect.
Treadmills stop and start automatically when walking on them. The motors seem to be weak. It seems that they are out of date and barely maintained. I am not a really big guy ether. On the date of this review, I am 5' 10" at roughly 350 pounds with an exomorph body type. In order to get to cardio heart rhythm, I walk at 3.0 mph. Regardless of speed however the treadmill throttles down. I've been to this PF a year prior with the same problems. I decided to workout again here and nothing has changed. The only thing that is a plus is the weight equipment. The treadmills are a safety risk. I have notified an employee who said the GM would take a look at this issue but for now this review stands until this is fixed.
Beware of their schemes of no joining fees and trials. I didn't know and joined the monthly trial. I found that the location won't work for me and I couldn't use it for more than 2 days. I called them to cancel but they didn't. It has been more than 6 months and they are still billing me. Contacted their head office but no use. You have be a lawyer to read the fine prints. So just stay away if you are not!! Bad business in a good community!
Several years ago I was reluctant to go here because the heaviest free weights they have are 60lbs, (I have been to one in NJ that had heavier). Finally I gave it a shot at $ 99 yearly with the Gold's gym in Thorndale being too run down. It has been great. Not to say that if LA Fitness was at this location and at $ 99 that I would not go there instead. There are a lot of cardio machines but ironically they don't have the best, which are the Precor elipticals.
This gym is ok if you're just into cardio. There selection of free weights is pretty poor and I get the feeling they really do not want people using free weights. The place is clean and pretty cheap so all in all it's just ok. I do like the fact that they have several locations you can visit if you choose the all inclusive membership option.
