My wife and I quit this place once and are contemplating quitting again. The only reason we go is for the steam rooms....and now they, and the showers, are out of service for a week! They also should start checking out and charging for towels that aren't returned. Maybe that would keep the inconsiderate pigs there from leaving their towels in the showers, steam room, and locker room floors and benches! Showers are always out of soap and had to mention the busted, rusty water fountain in the pool area 3 times before it got fixed. People drop weights and hog stations...and no one says anything. Not worth the $$ they charge.
Update: Yay! They got it fixed for me. After my many weeks of trying, I finally got my $575 worth of Pilates lessons turned into personal training sessions that can be used at the Tulsa location (just like I wanted). I'm still stuck with $75 that I have to use for Pilates, but it's better than nothing. Thank you so much Lifetime Fitness for the prompt response after I wrote my Yelp, Google, and Four Square reviews. _____________________________________ Original Review Problem: I split my time between Houston, TX and Tulsa, OK. From the Cinco Ranch location, I purchased hundreds of dollars worth of Pilates sessions (personal and group) that are going unused because my schedule does not mesh well with the Pilates instructor in Tulsa. What I want is to convert those Pilates sessions that I bought in Houston into personal training sessions that I can use in Tulsa. It's the same company with the same computer system, what's the problem? What I have tried doing: I have called Tyler, business manager, from the Tulsa club weekly (Since May) trying to get this resolved. So far, all he has done is switch my primary membership to the Tulsa club. That's it. I leave messages for him and he never calls back. I have been calling the Cinco Ranch, TX club since Thursday of last week. I spoke with Chris, assistant personal training manager and he promised to speak with Zach his manager. Nothing has been done and he has not been returning my calls. Awesome. What is most frustrating is that every time I call, I get a helpful person who says they are going to fix it for me which makes me feel so hopeful; and then nothing gets done. If you're planned on ripping me off and keeping my money, just say that. Don't tell me you're going to address the issue and then not do it. Transfer my sessions or refund my money. 24 Hour Fitness was not as fancy of a gym as Lifetime Fitness, but they had far better customer service. When I split my time between Houston, TX and Phoenix, AZ and I had this problem, I was able to use training sessions I purchased at the 24 in Houston at the 24 in Phoenix.
I wanted to add my review, as some of these are very old. I have recent experience. The child center is excellent, my son asks to go there. The gym is clean, and has a spa feel to it. I have never found it overcrowded or waited for a machine, and I feel the price is fair for what I get. I have worked out at Bally's, Blast, 24 hour fitness, YMCA, and the Houstonian, so I have seen other gyms. The pool is fantastic, with a water slide and plenty of staff. I'm very happy with the gym.
I really do want to like this place, but I just cannot. They have a good sales pitch, and the place looks nice. However, once you join, you find out just how awful the customer service is. The personal training is ok, but I have had better trainers at other chains. I had both kids in swim lessons here, but the service here is the worst. They have never once returned a phone call. I switched them to a "real" swim school. The attitude of the workers at the front reception and the membership services could definitely be better. My latest bad experience was just today. They advertised a class for kids ages 5-7 on the schedule. When we got there, we found out that age was only for the kids enrolled in camp, and you have to be 6 if you are just a member. My daughter turns 6 in less than 2 months. So, no classes for her this summer unless we want to pay an extra $180 a week to put her in camp. If you want to just go in, do a workout and leave, it is an ok place. If you are expecting helpful people who care about their customers, I would look elsewhere.
Rip-Off! I requested to cancel my membership in July, 2014 and thought I was good to go BUT i was wrong; Lifetime continued to charge my bank card. I contacted the Cinco Ranch office; spoke with April. Then I spoke with Cindy and finally spoke with the General Manager Scott Baumgardner. Scott promised me that my bank account would not be charged for the month of October but I noticed yesterday another charge in the amount of $204; I left a voice mail for Scott to call but he did not call back to me.
